I didn’t plan to become an entrepreneur.
Maybe side hustles came naturally to me because I saw both my parents do it and it took one uncomfortable conversation with a high-net-worth client to make me pause and truly assess the potential of the little kente business I had started in my car trunk.
Over time, I’ve realized I am not just selling kente.
I’ve become a cultural custodian, helping people wear their identity, pride, and story beautifully. I’m also helping weaving communities rediscover dignity and purpose in their craft.
Leaving banking was my leap of faith. It took grit to do it, and by the grace of God, what we do at @goba_kente today proves that culture and commerce can coexist sustainably
Grit got me started, growth gave it direction, but grace still carries me. ✨
Thank you @ceibs_africa for helping me restructure and grow a reputable company through the Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership for Africa program and for the powerful alumnae ecosystem that continues to add value.
Sharing these reflections recently at the Global Business School Network Conference reminded me how important it is to tell our stories. The stories of African women building, learning, leading and shaping enterprises that honor both heritage and innovation against all odds.

Hello everyone, Meet Araba.
Araba and I worked together at the Bank.
When it was time to say “I do,” she chose @goba_kente and became a proud #gobabride
Then, the unimaginable happened two years ago and even through deep loss, Araba has shown so much grace and quiet strength.
When I reached out to ask if she would be willing to share her story for our Still She Rises Mother’s Day tribute, she said, “Sure, Babs. I am comfortable sharing my story”
And here we are.
If her story moves you, here’s how you can support, Donate via MoMo: +233 59 295 5918
Account name: Baaba Asiedu
Your support helps with school fees, healthcare, wellness, or small business tools for the widows in this campaign.
We also welcome gifts, services, and job opportunities.
This is more than a campaign.
It’s a seed of hope.
Thank you for rising with us.
Grateful to the team who brought this to life:

Mother’s Day feels very different this year🤍
Today, I honour the woman who mothered me, shaped me, prayed over me, and loved us deeply.
As we continue preparing to lay her to rest on the 6th of June, I hold her memory with gratitude, pain, and love.
Rest well, Mummy.
And if there’s still time to show your mother kindness, please do so intentionally. Take the moment.
Happy Mother’s Day. 🤍
Dear Mama 💔💔💔
We fought with all we had in this last year.
I never gave up on you and you never gave up either.
You were strong in ways words cannot fully capture even in your very low moments. Watching you carry everything with grace and courage is something I will hold with me always.
Thank you for your love, your faith, your sacrifices and the way you held us together. Thank you for being my mother.
I am so so sorry. I miss you already, Ma.
Rest gently now, until we meet again🤍
Nyame wo h), Nyame ye🙏🫂🤍

If I could start my entrepreneurial journey again, these are the 6 things I would do differently…
Exactly two weeks ago, I had the rare opportunity to speak and connect with a room of 1000+ women through @thenationalwomenssummitgh
I’m grateful to the organizers @charterhousegh and all the incredible sponsors for creating such a meaningful platform and to my friends and peers who showed up to support, thank you as always.
I shared 6 things I would do differently if I had to start again:
• Commit to the idea earlier
• Be more intentional about the people I hire
• Take my finances seriously from day one
• Document the journey as I grow
• Invest in coaching and mentorship
• Build visibility and share your value
I ended with this, there will be moments of doubt, overwhelm, fear, and uncertainty but the truth is, everybody does experience these moments and yet this entrepreneurial journey is still a privilege, so build a tribe that holds you through every season, and never forget to choose to be the hero of your own story✨
Which one hit you the most? Share in the comment👇🏾

Last Friday @thenationalwomenssummitgh , I stood on that stage not just as a speaker but as a woman who has chosen to become the hero of her own story.
I shared a bit of my entrepreneurial journey so far.
The faith and humility it takes, the courage it demands and the purpose that keeps me going.
If there was one message I wanted every woman in that room to leave with, it was this 👇
You are allowed to pursue the life God placed in your heart without constantly seeking permission and approval from 1001 people who do not even like you like that or have your best interest at heart. Run with your vision early.
The right people will come and they will support you wholeheartedly.
The feedback I have received afterwards reminds me that when we speak our truth, we unlock courage in others to own their truth as well.
May we keep rising.
May we keep inspiring.
May we keep becoming better!

The journey from doing small deliveries from the trunk of my car to building @goba_kente is one I’m deeply grateful for.
I’m honored to share a bit of my entrepreneurial journey at the SME Empowerment Session this Friday at the Palms Convention Centre as a way of giving back.
I look forward to sharing and learning.

This morning I woke up reflecting on all that I am as a woman and the many roles I carry.
The strength it takes for me to keep showing up. The quiet prayers I’ve whispered in moments no one sees and the grace that has carried me over and over again when my own strength felt so small.
Sometimes we move through life carrying so much, yet we still rise each day without looking like our problems and still find a way to pour into others gracefully.
I am also deeply grateful for the incredible women who have held me up over the years with their strength, their prayers and their presence. Thank you so much 😊
To every woman doing the same, I wish you grace and courage to keep going.
Happy International Women’s Day.

My former boss, Lauren of @laurenhautecouture and one of Ghana’s creative designers, dressed me in this stunning custom outfit for the 69th Independence Day Celebrations and I’m so grateful. ✨
I loved her creative interpretations of the @goba_kente custom piece through her design lens 🔥
The entire experience felt like a full-circle moment.
There was a time when I worked for her, and today we meet again as peers contributing to the growth of Ghana’s fashion industry with each of us walking our own path.
Moments like this remind me of something simple but powerful: value relationships and honour the people who were part of your becoming.
Please enjoy a little behind the scenes from the Independence shoot. I’ve learned to surround myself with people who make the process easier, lighter, and more joyful, and I’m grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing this moment to life.
Please book all of the brands below, we are available.

Today we celebrate the spirit of a nation that dared to dream. 🇬🇭
A nation built on courage, resilience, and hope.
The Lauren woman @baaba_ankrah wears kente not just as fabric, but as a story — a story of heritage, strength, and pride. Every thread reminds us of who we are and how far we have come.
As we celebrate freedom and unity, may our beloved Ghana continue to rise in grace, excellence, and greatness.
Happy Independence Day, Ghana.
Forever proud to call you home. ❤️💛💚
