Our first 2-time solo guest, but for good reason... Ben Banaghan has done it. After months of planning, training, and setbacks, Ben has become the fastest man ever to run the entire length of Iceland. (Unofficially, but we'll get to that in the full pod...) Ben has returned from his unbelievable expedition & shares the reality behind the record: Brutal weather, Endless hills, Physical breakdowns, and the mindset it takes to keep moving when everything screams “stop.” An incredible story of endurance, teamwork, and resilience, and a reminder of what’s possible when you push past limits. 💪 Full episode with all the good stuff is out tomorrow at 12pm! ⏰ @b_banaghan #IcelandRun #UltraRunning #Endurance #BenBanaghan #ConstructionSport #MentalHealth #worldrecord #Podcast

It’s been a week since I’ve finished running from the most northern to southern point of Iceland. 🇮🇸 The Official Guinness World Record is 8 days 6 hours and 44 mins & I completed it in 7 days 10 hours & 28 mins, a solid effort I’m quite proud of! Unfortunately after 2 official submissions, 6 emails chasing and visiting the GWR head office in London - they never got back to me so it wasn’t an ‘official attempt’. Really happy with how it went and I feel like it’s the best I’ve ran / done an ultra run - shout out to @ciaran_o_reilly96 ! No major injuries came from it and felt like I could have went another week! Flying back caused my ankles to swell a little bit but a few days of having my legs up & some proper recovery saw that go down! I’m gonna do some videos of what I done each day speaking about terrain, nutrition, preparation, execution, injuries, the highs and lows. Some running Iceland stats… Total duration: 7 days 10 hours 28 mins Total distance: 590km / 367 miles averaging 74km per day Total steps: 780,815 Elevation climb: 6,501m Longest run without a break: 45km Square bars consumed: 32 Started shoe size 9 - finished size 10.5 My next challenge will probably be in January but one I’m keen to do is the @bpnsupps last man standing in Texas - a different type of endurance race with no finish line! C’mon @focusfightfinish give me a chance and I’ll compete hard against your lads & ladies 🤣 Please donate to the link in my bio if you can! Every 1k raised is money that goes to help a person who is suicidal - 2 people take their life every day within the construction industry… The people who need help often don’t have the money or know where to go for help which is exactly what @constructionsport do to help!

I’m due to finish running across Iceland this evening and haven’t been posting much because I’ve just been running! All going well I should shave a few hours off the Guinness World Record 🏃🏻‍♂️ Doing this has been one of the hardest challenges of my life! I’ll share the challenges involved for each day when I get back home & have some more time! The terrain, barren land with no shops for over 300km, wind, rivers, very little sleep, swollen feet and other injuries have made it a mad week! So lucky to be here seeing the northern lights, glaciers, geysers & a stupid amount of waterfalls! Even luckier to have @ciaran_o_reilly96 by my side for it all - without him I’d probably running around a volcano somewhere 😂 I did it for a personal challenge & to raise funds for construction sport! If you could spare the cost of a pint to donate, it would mean the world to me and the lads who run the charity! 2 people take their lives every day within the @constructionsport and construction sport are the most hands on charity I’ve seen in the UK & Ireland to tackle this! Every £1,000 raised goes to giving people in need the mental health support to help tackle the suicide crisis! The link to donate is in my bio and please contribute if you can

🚨NEW PODCAST Ben Banaghan has been on construction sites from the age of 14. Now, as in RIGHT now, he’s out in Iceland attempting something unbelievable: running the full length of the country - approx 570km from north to south - in just 8 days. (8th - 15th September 2025) This isn’t just about running. It’s about mental toughness, graft, and proving what’s possible when you come from a working-class background and push your limits. If you’re in construction, trades, or the running world - this one will hit home. Ben’s journey is about more than sport. It’s about mental health, resilience, and showing working people what’s possible, & why it’s worth doing. Click the links in our story to watch this episode, & if you’d like to donate, click the top link in our bio! Getting to the start point took a lot longer than expected due to some delayed flights, technical car problem & mad weather conditions! Nonetheless we got there 🇮🇸 one of the hardest parts of these runs is the logistics and getting to the start point! I’m technically starting day 2 right now but because I was eating road all day yesterday I didn’t get a chance to post! Stay tuned & link in bio to donate #RunningIceland #running #run

Tomorrow I’m going to be running 10km through central London wearing full 5-point PPE to raise some awareness for mental health in construction & some funds for Construction Sport. A different type of training as I prepare to run across Iceland! What do Construction Sport do? Construction Sport offer Mental Health services & emergency Mental Health services to people within the construction industry. Having seen their services in action - they are directly helping the people who are physically carrying out the works on site who are often over-looked. Long hours, tight finances, difficult deadlines are all challenges that affect the mental well-being of people within the construction industry and if anyone is severly struggling with their mental from this or other reasons - there is a service you can use for help. Construction Sport are offering a service to the full construction industry in the UK which is not offered from employees. From what I’ve seen, Construction Sports passion for making a change to mental health in construction is unmatched so if you could make any contribution - no matter how big or small it would very much appreciated. Anything you donate will allow Construction Sport to continue this service to the industry. The link is in my bio to donate! If you (or you know anyone) who needs some help with their Mental Health, please reach out to me or Construction Sport. If you’re around London and want to get involved - we’re starting at 12:30 from St.Pauls cathedral!

Happy to finally share my next challenge of running the length of Iceland! 🇮🇸🏃🏻‍♂️ It’s going to be around 570km / 355 miles and I’m aiming to complete it in around 7.5 or 8 days! I’m doing it as a personal challenge and although people are probably sick of me raising money for charity, it’s too big an opportunity to not raise some funds and awareness! This time I’ll be running for @constructionsport who are mental health charity for people within the construction industry! Having spoke to the lads at construction sport more than a few times now I am so happy to be able to help them! 100% of donations made will go directly towards Construction Sport. The money raised will support the mental health of the construction industry as well as continue the service that Construction Sport offers for urgent support for individuals when required! Just reach out to me or Construction Sport and we can help you! I’ll share more about Construction Sport and what they do in another post. The work they do is going to change how mental health is looked at within the construction industry. I start the challenge of Running Iceland Saturday 6th of September! Donation link in my bio to donate.
