@incurva_ new space in Trapani.
The redesign of the space has been conceived as a ‘pseudo-restoration’ by the Milan-based architecture practice BB (led by Alessandro Bava and Fabrizio Ballabio). Intervening discreetly into the existing building, their proposal enhances traces of stratification over time without erasing them. This approach echoes 19th-century Italian restoration theorists, who favored inventing and adding to the past over mere reconstruction. Strategic demolitions and additions such as a wall, a floor and a portal introduce a new interpretation of the space, striking a balance between memory and transformation.
