Their meeting was rough at first. When Rody came back to La Gueule de Saturne after quitting, Their boss Vince (aka Chef) treated him like he always did; far better than other employees. Gérard was baffled, furious at the blatant superior treatment Rody was getting, even when he'd been buying their boss gifts, and doing nice gestures for far longer, all in efforts to get connections to hopefully reach stardom as an actor. He wasn't going to let that go because of some "slob", he told himself. Meanwhile, Rody tried to get along with Gérard and befriend him starting by shaking his hand on his first day, but Gérard rejected it as if disgusted. Later, he then found out he'd stolen his skates and taken credit for his idea of incorporating them in service. After humiliating him during his first service, as they were about to close up, Gérard showed him clippings of customer feedback, which didn't look good at all, consisting of customers finding him bumbling, forgetful, clumsy, inefficient, etc., and Rody was hurt that Vincent would hide things like that from him.
Rody usually gave people the benefit of the doubt, but he realized quickly that his coworker had ulterior motives. Time and time again, Gérard would kiss up to Vince, and would turn to sabotage Rody during service, clinging to him like a parasite. Sometimes, he'd even spread rumors to coworkers and customers about his sexual orientation, even going as far as to lie and say that he had certain illnesses, whether it be mental or physical, to tear him down. Not only that; but after altercations, would frame Rody in a negative light and claim assault so that he got fired. Gérard would do anything; just to be rid of him so there was no chance at him being replaced.

Usually after a long show Gérard will stay a bit later for a glass or two of his favourite drink (whiskey). But, he tends to become a bit more honest when drunk, contradicting his usual well-crafted persona. This leads to him being brutally honest, or overly clingy, ultimately flustering his coworker (whom he knows is into him) Theon. But, Gérard only uses this to his advantage, despite not returning his feelings. Don also knows about Theon's crush on the singer, but doesn't say anything for the sake of protecting him, considering the time they live in. Don acts as a source of wisdom, comfort, and guidance within the bar, viewing all the employees there as family!

Though he mainly works at the bistro "La Gueule de Saturne" from Deadplate, he's worked at a music bar called "La Vie Nocturne" for much longer; since he was 19, up until his disappearance at the age of 23. Despite his obnoxiously large ego and hatred for the other band members, patrons greatly enjoyed his shows.
