One of the greatest parts about visual storytelling is the opportunity to translate emotions to the audience.
Many times these emotions are reflections of the experience and perspectives of your subject, and the audience is a collective of individuals who may not at all be personally tied to those sentiments.
But even still, a story well-told can make them feel something… perhaps feelings that are shared by those they are viewing.
In this Behind-the-Design, Black Legacy project, there was a lot of heart, soul, and energy poured in. From the conceptualization of the product, to the color palette, to the design of outsole.
I am humbled to have had a chance to play a role in telling the story of how the first Black Legacy sneaker design came to life, and an opportunity to give an audience a peek behind the feelings and intentions of its creators.
I am inspired by all of those involved in the project. Thank you to our Nike BEN talent for your openness and vulnerability as you shared the thoughtfulness that went into your work. And thank you to the rest of the BEN team for trusting us to tell the story.

Year of the Maker
No longer are years labeled by a time stamp.
Pre School, 6th grade, Redshirt Senior.
Rookie Year, 7th Season, Free Agent.
No.
From here forward, they are labeled by intention.
An intention that I have the Honor
and Responsibility to choose.
I don’t intend for these labels to act much different than labels of years past.
They will serve as reminders for my present self - where I’m at and what I am here to do.
And they will serve as mementos of the journey for my future self.
