East Valley Periodontics is thrilled to co-host our 2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament on Friday, February 27, 2026, at The Picklr Scottsdale bringing doctors together for a high-energy afternoon of connection, competition, and community. With 2026 marking our second year, we’re leveling things up with more teams, more networking, and more fun than ever before!
✨ What to Expect: 🏓 Four skill-based brackets: Recreational, Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced 👥 Each team includes at least one doctor or dentist 🍴 Lunch provided for all players & sponsors (12:30–1:00 PM) ⏰ Tournament play begins at 1:00 PM 🏆 Awards & raffles at the end of the event with bronze, silver & gold prizes

For our first Brennan Dental patient case I’m going to have to use my #1 all time patient and First Lady of Brennan Dental.
Ten years ago I was at the airport catching a flight to speak at a conference for our dental marketing company when I received this a panicked text with this picture. My wife had broken a front tooth with a previous root canal and crown. Most dentists will know right away even just by the picture, there is no saving this and it’s gonna be a rough hillbilly weekend with me headed out of town unless I found some help.
It wasn’t the first time and wouldn’t be the last… Dr. Brent Boyse the #1 dental implant surgeon in Arizona got a quick call from me to squeeze in a priority patient that day! By early afternoon Alisa had her tooth extracted and an implant with temporary placed. She’d be stable for months until the implant was fully integrated and ready for a perfect crown.
That day was just the beginning of a long road to perfection including multiple revisions at the lab to get the shape and shade better spot in. Along the journey there was even a broken zirc abutment you’ll see in the picture of the x ray stuck in the implant. When I was in 4th grade, my orthodontist told me I would need jaw surgery in my twenties, something braces alone couldn’t fix. He recommended waiting until I was fully grown, so at 25, I finally started the process… and wow, had it been a wild ride!
Insurance battles with BCBS had me fighting for approval over and over again, and just when I had one last chance to appeal, a small insurance company in Maryland stepped in and overturned the denial, declaring me the perfect candidate for this medically necessary procedure. After nearly a year of waiting, it finally happened, and the recovery has been a journey in itself.
What’s crazy is I didn’t realize just how much this was affecting me until after surgery. Growing up, I thought the way I slept, ate, and breathed was normal—it was all I had ever known. But now, experiencing what normal is actually supposed to feel like? It’s life-changing. I sleep better, eat better, breathe better, and most importantly, I feel better. And the best part is no more braces!!!
