#OperationDesertGuardian tackles crime in Tucson and Phoenix 🚓
PHOENIX/TUCSON, AZ - On May 13, 2026, Highway Patrol State Troopers in Tucson and Phoenix participated in a criminal interdiction detail as part of Operation Desert Guardian. Through the detail, Troopers made 41 arrests for warrants, weapons offenses, and drug offenses. Their efforts removed dangerous weapons and drugs such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine from our streets.
#ODG is a statewide, multi-agency operation focused on combating human, drug, and weapons trafficking, DUIs, and related crimes in Arizona. Your State Troopers are committed to making our communities safer from dangerous activities that affect our citizens.

This week, AZDOHS visited Yuma to meet with community leaders and learn even more about how we can support Arizona’s border communities. During a productive and insightful meeting with County Supervisor Jonathan Lines, the team learned about the work being done at @amberlysplace . Supervisor Lines helped schedule a tour of the facility, where the team had the privilege of meeting the staff and seeing the incredible, life-changing work they do. We are thankful an organization like Amberly’s Place exists, and for the care they provide to those who need it.

During a recent Operation Desert Guardian deployment, deputies and other law enforcement partners found this stolen vehicle driving through Pinal County.
Operation Desert Guardian (ODG) is a coordinated, multi-agency initiative to disrupt and dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) operating in Arizona. By combining interdiction efforts, intelligence and information sharing, network disruption, and community outreach, ODG aims to strengthen public safety and reduce criminal activity across the state.
The Arizona Department of Homeland Security is heartbroken for our colleagues at the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Our thoughts and condolences are with AZDPS, and the families and loved ones of the two crew members who tragically lost their lives in Flagstaff last night.

As @govhobbs mentioned in her State of the State address, Operation Desert Guardian’s impact is working here in Arizona. And the proof is in the numbers.
Since its inception, #operationdesertguardian has seized over 25,000 pounds of illicit and illegal drugs, including over 16,000 pounds of fentanyl. Combined, these drugs have a street value of over $105 million.
#ODG partners across the state have made over 1,400 arrests, and seized more than 1,200 illegal firearms.
Through Operation Desert Guardian, local police departments, county sheriffs, state troopers, Tribal, and federal law enforcement officers are working to disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal organizations in Arizona.

On December 23, 2025, @azdps_highwaypatrol State Troopers conducted an #OperationDesertGuardian detail in central Phoenix. The focus? Removing dangerous drugs and illegal weapons from the community. With assistance from the K-9 team and DPS Ranger, #NightWatch Troopers made multiple arrests for drugs and criminal activity.
