I came to Australia one year ago, and I didn’t expect to be in a writer’s room in this country. I thought my life as a filmmaker might be ending in this new country. But I met Maddie, and she gave me the opportunity to live my dream in Australia, not just the common immigrant life. I know I have a long trip in this country, even with my English, but I want to keep going and see how much I can do in #Australia that is giving me the opportunity to be here and be happy with new friends that I couldn’t imagine met.

#LaBaláhna #Maidenhood is a short film shot in my community, in my home land with people from my region. The Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca.
I am happy for the step that is opening for the short film through #Sundance, for all the energy that was generated in the making of the short film and for the reaction of the festivals to request the story.
Thanks to the people who accompanied me, who were there and got involved with the film.
It is a very personal and emotional life process, I question the role we have to live as women in a society that is still sexist.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope that one day violence against women will end.
Let's hope that #Maidenhood #LaBaláhna follows its path and that we continue to project our stories to other levels.

Estoy contenta por el paso que se está abriendo para el cortometraje a través del #Sundance, por toda la energía que se generó en la realización del corto y por la reacción de los festivales para solicitar la historia.
Gracias a las personas que me acompañaron, que estuvieron y se involucraron con el filme.
Se trata de un proceso de vida muy personal y emotivo, cuestiono el rol que nos toca vivir como mujeres en una sociedad todavía machista. De corazón, espero que un día la violencia a la mujer termine.
Esperemos que #Maidenhood #LaBaláhna siga su camino y que sigamos proyectando a otros niveles nuestras historias.
