Labour is bleeding progressive voters — and they won't win them back with Wes Streeting as prime minister, argues @ayocaesar on LBC. As it stands, Reform look likely to win the next general election, with no path to victory for Labour or the Greens under first past the post.

Labour has failed to communicate what it believes in and is suffering a brutal set of local election defeats as a result. Speaking to the BBC, Ash Sarkar says Labour was wrong to pander to the right, rather than addressing issues that unite people across the political spectrum. “The most important issue across all the different parts of the electorate is the cost of living,” says Sarkar, adding that tackling it could bring together “a working class Muslim voter in east London” and “a white working class voter in the northeast”.

Should the age of consent be staggered? @ayocaesar argues that at 16, people are old enough to want to explore sex, but they should still be protected from coercion and manipulation by people who are much older. She argues that the dynamic between partners affects their ability to make an informed choice – and the law should reflect that.

"Your Party is one of the biggest political tragedies of our time, and it is a tragedy of leadership." In conversation with @aaronjohnbastani at Downstream IRL, @ayocaesar argued that Your Party, as a national political project, is dead — but that it could develop into something completely different at a local level in the future.

Minority Rule is out in paperback, with a brand new afterword - covering Zohran Mamdani, the rise of Reform, and more besides! It's also a @booksaremybag #indiebookofthemonth, which is very nice. Here's a video of my big ol' face to celebrate.
