Happy publication day to Fragments of a Future Scroll: Hasidism for the Aquarian Age, the 50th anniversary edition of a paradigm-shifting work by Reb Zalman, one of the most important Jewish figures in postwar America. Order your copy here: https://loom.ly/5lScwCs About the book: By the time of his death, Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (1924–2014), also known as Reb Zalman, had transformed the landscape of Judaism in America. The son of liberal Hasidic Jews, a Holocaust refugee, and devoted Lubavitcher Hasid, Reb Zalman eventually left the traditional Hasidic fold and committed himself to seeding a mystical Jewish renaissance. An active participant in the counterculture and New Age movements, Reb Zalman began experimenting with different forms of Jewish ritual and contemplative practice—and their intersection with other spiritual traditions—ultimately founding the Jewish Renewal movement. Fragments of a Future Scroll, Reb Zalman’s first book, was originally published by a small press in 1975 and, until now, was long out of print. A truly unique book—or “anti-book,” as Shaul Magid refers to it in his new introductory essay—Fragments gathers Reb Zalman’s first idiosyncratic attempts at articulating a renewed “Hasidism for the Aquarian Age,” envisioning Judaism’s evolving place and role within an emergent “planetary consciousness.” Full of boundary-breaking wisdom and crackling poetic oddity, Fragments of a Future Scroll is a book for people from all religious and spiritual traditions who are looking to experience the world—and consciousness itself—anew. This historic 50th anniversary edition presents an updated version of the original text, alongside essays by four contemporary Jewish thinkers—Rabbi Shaul Magid (@magidshaul ), Rabbi Tirzah Firestone (@tirzahfire ), Rabbi Jericho Vincent (@thealef ), and Arthur Kurzweil—reflecting on Reb Zalman’s enormous impact, and guiding contemporary readers into his paradigm-shifting worldview. Forthcoming from Ayin in 2026: Speak to the Bones: A Book of Jewish Spells and Incantations, a thrilling collection inspired by the ancient Jewish practice of manifestation through speech—with an accompanying essay by Rabbi Jill Hammer. Speak to the Bones invites readers of all religious and spiritual backgrounds into the ever-evolving world of Jewish mysticism. Rabbis Jericho Vincent (@thealef ) and Zvika Krieger (@zkrieger ) have curated a diverse collection of over forty spells from secret mystical tomes, tattered journals, medieval heirloom amulets, and shards of buried incantation bowls, as well as from traditional verses and liturgy that have been radically yet faithfully re-translated to be relevant to our contemporary world. In today’s age of digital distraction and always-on culture, these spells and accompanying commentaries—which address topics like love, insomnia, anxiety, and courage—can help modern seekers channel ancient wisdom to bring grounding, intentionality, and mindfulness into their everyday lives. Full book description to come. Preorder the book now at the link in our bio. Illustration by Aya Rosen (@ayarosen )

Join us for an evening of readings and conversation with poets Daniela Naomi Molnar (@daniela_naomi_molnar ) and Peter Cole on June 4th at 7:30pm EST on Zoom. Poet and artist Daniela Naomi Molnar, and poet and translator Peter Cole, bring two of their works into conversation: Molnar's PROTOCOLS: An Erasure (Ayin Press, 2025), a National Jewish Book Award finalist, and Cole's On the Slaughter: Selected Poems (NYRB, 2025) (@nyrbooks ). Register for the event: https://loom.ly/KWgbrqQ Both books perform a counterreading of sorts: of documents twisted by hatred, of histories that have been misread, suppressed, or weaponized. Together, Daniela and Peter will explore what it means to resist violence through language, and what poetry can hold that other forms of witness cannot. The evening will feature readings by both poets interspersed with a conversation moderated by Ayin Editorial Director Eden Pearlstein. Q&A to follow. Cosponsor: NYRB (@nybooks )

To read Báyò Akómoláfé (@bayo.akomolafe ) is to enter a world of unexpected encounters between thinkers, traditions, and stories you would never have imagined in conversation.  Drawing on the relational poetics of Édouard Glissant, the queer art of Jack Halberstam, the critical imagination of Octavia Butler, Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy of becoming, Yoruba trickster tales, and so much more, Báyò inherits and translates a polyvocal rhizome of stories and thought.  The result? A body of work that is labyrinthine, even Talmudic. It is oral and literate, with no clear point of entry. It is nonlinear, fractally intertextual, attuned to both the all-too- and more-than-human worlds, and obsessed with loopholes.  Order the book at the link in our bio or visit: https://loom.ly/UcBMbTQ  Book design by Melissa Weiss Cover artwork by Krista Dragomer (@kristadragomerart )

Revealing the cover of Who Do You Think You Are? by Yuli Novak featuring artwork by Addam Yekutieli (Know Hope) (@thisislimbo ) and type design by Melissa Weiss. Preorder your copy today. The book will be shipping on December 15th, 2026. Braiding intimate travelogue with searing political memory, Novak traces the story of a personal and political unraveling, exploring the relationship and tension between militarism and masculinity, silence and survival, home and exile. In the wake of the ongoing destruction of Gaza, Who Do You Think You Are? reflects on the path that has carried Israel into a regime of extremism and unrestrained violence, offering a necessary meditation on conscience, complicity, and the search for another way. Who Do You Think You Are?, the English translation of the bestselling Hebrew memoir, is an intimate and unflinching account of what it means to confront a system of violence from within. In 2015, as director of Breaking the Silence — a controversial group of Israeli army veterans resisting the occupation — Yuli Novak found herself branded a traitor by the Prime Minister, vilified by the media, subjected to death threats, and caught in the crosshairs of a nation unwilling to face its own reflection. Two years later, Novak stepped down from her role, packed a bag, and bought a one-way ticket out of the country. She set off alone, traveling from the moon-like landscape of Iceland to the beaches of Portugal and the heart of South Africa, navigating waves of grief, rage, love, and belonging. Preorder your copy at the link in our bio or visit: https://loom.ly/pceQFFE About the Author Yuli Novak is an Israeli human‑rights activist, lawyer, and former Israeli Air Force officer. In 2023 she was appointed Executive Director of B’Tselem (@btselem ), Israel’s leading human-rights organization. This project was produced in partnership with @albi__world . Albi is a fund, institute and lab that uses cultural vehicles to create and amplify paradigm-shifting narratives by and about Israel-Palestine. Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (1924-2014) was no ordinary rabbi. Over the course of his colorful, countercultural life, he experimented with hallucinogens, designed a rainbow tallit, discussed the Jewish diaspora with his holiness the Dalai Lama, sang ancient hymns to the tune of “Amazing Grace”—and, in the process, transformed the landscape of American Judaism.  The story of Reb Zalman’s life can be told as a series of encounters. Born in Poland and raised in Vienna, he fled the Nazis as a teenager and found his way to an internment camp in Marseille—where a chance encounter with the eventual Lubavitcher Rebbe set him on the path to becoming a Hasidic rabbi.  Years later, a hallucinogenic encounter with Timothy Leary introduced Reb Zalman to a wider spiritual world. Leaving the Chabad movement behind, he committed himself to seeding a mystical Jewish Renaissance—ultimately founding the Jewish Renewal and Havurah movements, authoring numerous books on Kabbalah and Hasidism, and inspiring generations of Jews and seekers worldwide.  Order the book at the link in our bio or visit: /products/fragments-of-a-future-scroll-hasidism-for-the-aquarian-age-preorder This edition presents an updated version of the original text, alongside essays by four contemporary Jewish thinkers—Rabbi Shaul Magid, Rabbi Tirzah Firestone (@tirzahfire ), Rabbi Jericho Vincent (@thealef ), and Arthur Kurzweil (@arthur_kurzweil )—reflecting on Reb Zalman’s enormous impact, and guiding contemporary readers into his paradigm-shifting worldview.

Exploring the narrow streets and hectic squares of Marrakech while shooting the music video for Yafa Vetama was an experience I’ll never forget. Walking in the Mellah and the Jewish Cemetery, climbing up the stairs of my grandparents’s house, being surrounded by the sound of music and Arabic, reminded me of what once was and what could be.

Báyò Akómoláfé (@bayo.akomolafe ) defies neat categories. A widely celebrated writer, teacher, posthumanist thinker, and self-styled “trans-public” intellectual, he has produced a dynamic body of work that presents a startling portrait of the world in perpetual process and radical relation. Born in Nigeria, raised in Germany and Congo, currently living with his family in India, and calling Brazil his spiritual home, Báyò is a true global citizen. Rooted with the Yoruba people in a more-than-human world, he is the visionary founder of the Emergence Network (@the_emergence_network ), and currently lectures at Pacifica Graduate Institute and Macalester College. Through an ever-growing archive of articles, books, interviews, films, social media posts, workshops, and rituals, Báyò seeks to interrogate the fundamental assumptions and epistemological gaps in our current culture in crisis. Weaving together the most luminous threads of his thought, Selah invites readers into the thicket of Báyò’s body of work.
