A Note from Ayeraye I created Love Thyselves to inspire, humor, and hit home for many within my community and my generation. I want this “feel-good” pilot episode to accumulate smiles, laughter and good memories for Black families; to fill our heads and hearts with joy, laughter, love, light, healing and happiness. Love Thyselves is a film that explores how total self-acceptance and grace, paired with self-accountability and action, can produce a level of healing that is no match for anything in the way of you reaching your goals, and blossoming. I aim to fill our heads and hearts with love, light, healing and happiness. I want to be a part of the movement that inspires Black youth to go beyond, to outsmart the systems that stand as obstacles on our path, and to shoot for prosperity. It is my hope that I bring laughter, joy and memories to many homes. By sharing a piece of myself, I send the message to my audience to accept and take pride in their whole selves, and be enough. The inspiration and importance that lies within lineage is astounding when applied with insight. I find the light by following paths of those who paved the way. As the Sankofa bird looks backward, I rejoice all the Black Womxn who came before me and dared to walk tall and proud, and live in gratitude, daring to run; as the Egg is warm and nurtured, cared for and tended to. History repeats itself until lessons are learned and cycles are broken. To commemorate the old, and new age of the Roaring Twenties, and celebrate my old and new age and era of my Roaring Twenties, I give thanks.
