Friday night dinner in Lagos, Nigeria, with a few good friends, courtesy of The Macallan. The Macallan, world-renowned single-malt Scotch whisky, introduced a new chapter in its visual identity on Friday April 17, 2026, with the unveiling of its redesigned Double Cask and Sherry Oak Collections through the Timeless Collection launch in Lagos. The evening tagged The Macallan 360 Experience, marked the brand’s transition from its existing packaging to a striking new visual identity, representing a brand evolution moment that reinforces The Macallan’s craftsmanship, progress and premium positioning, while preserving the liquid that has defined the brand for generations. The updated designs make it easier for consumers to navigate The Macallan portfolio while drawing a stronger visual connection between the whisky, the oak casks that shape it and the estate where it matures. The creative direction for the new designs was led by celebrated graphic designer David Carson, a long-time collaborator of The Macallan, whose approach draws on symbols from the brand’s first 200 years while imagining how it should present itself for the future. The new bottle silhouette draws inspiration from the distillery’s sweeping roof, the triangular shoulder label references Spain’s Sherry Triangle, and new cask symbols on the rear labels communicate the influence of American and European oak clearly and elegantly. Music was by the great Adekunle Gold; education by my man Daniel Attah, my agbada from Omoluabi by KB. The taste buds, palate, and everything else (the nose!) that allowed one enjoy such a wonderful night from The Almighty God!

I’ve known Jacob and the team at RedHill since 2021, when we first went on the road scouting for strategic partners in Europe, Asia and North America. Quite pleased that both of our organizations have now entered into a strategic partnership that leverages each company’s geographical capabilities. As we continue to build BHM into a global platform, I’m excited about all the barriers we’re breaking and new grounds we’re covering. Super long journey ahead but we will get there. And we’re closer today than we were yesterday. It is possible!

This morning I had the misfortune of listening to a BBC Radio 4 conversation where Sir Martin Sorrell was quite disrespectful, condescending and dismissive of both the PRCA CEO Sarah Waddington and the entire PR industry. I could not believe my ears, as Sorrell, who apparently knows little about public relations, did all but listen, as Waddington, head of the PRCA, did her best to educate him. I feel obliged to add my voice to the conversation and if you with in the industry I invite you to please read it on my LinkedIn page. You should consider adding your voice too.

I recorded this video in the early hours of November 28, 2025, as Edi Lawani walked in casually to check out set up plans for NECLive. I’ve known the man my entire career, and I’ve been around since at least 1996. Before I knew him, I knew of him through all the newspapers and magazines that wrote about him weekly. You see, there are people like ‘Uncle Edi’, Jimmy JATT (story for another good day), and Ali Baba (yet another story for another day) who are old enough to be our fathers; accomplished enough for us to idolize; gods amongst us mere men; yet who treat everyone as colleagues, friends, peers. They’ve held the ladder for so many people and often ask for, nor get little in return. So when he walked in that morning and Henry Ekechukwu (another great human being I’ve known since 1996 that’s yet to get the flowers he deserves), broke into dance and praise, it felt good to just stand there and watch. It warmed my heart. As we all achieve bits and pieces of our goals here and there; becoming ‘important’ and ‘successful’ by different definitions, I hope we can always remember the architects of what we have today; the builders and pathfinders; the men and women who may not be on the trends table or boast of instagram and TikTok numbers. I hope we can continue to learn from their wisdom and experience as we all work to unlock the tremendous value that the creative economy could unlock for our continent. It is possible

Please watch and listen to the audio. The kind of mindset and attitude that made these young gentlemen ask me to record and show their ‘cyber truck’; the kind of vision that makes you imagine you’re driving an $80000 vehicle even though it’s 5am and you’re pushing bin carts in Lagos; that kind of swag and confidence and hope and humour is a huge part of what it takes to succeed. I was a broke 200L undergraduate in Ibadan when I named myself Ayeni The Great. It appeared arrogant to many. It wasn’t that I thought I was great (I still am not). But it was to me a constant reminder of what I aspire to; a recorder of my vision; my ambition. In my mind I was already driving a cyber truck even though IRL I was still ‘pushing bin carts’. You have to see it first. You have to believe it when you see it. And you have to work and pray for it. Maybe, just maybe, the universe will conspire with you to make it happen. I really pray I’ll come back here in a few years and report to you that I ran into one of these young men and they’re exactly where they’re meant to be. It is possible!
