There is so much more to say…coming after I stop sobbing.
Music is the heartbeat of Carnival.
From pan to kaiso, soca to chutney, new calypso, lounge soca—and every rhythm in between.
Fête Yard was born to honour the parts of Carnival we don’t always get to fully see. This year, my intention was to honour our musical legends—here at home and beyond.
The Savannah Stage is one of the most sacred places to me.
It is a place of worship, hope, dreams, tears, release, and power.
It means so many things to so many of us.
It is our coronation room—the space where our Carnival monarchs are made.
To bring Fête Yard onto that stage, in that space, was a long-held hope and dream. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life.
So many people shared with us—during and after—that they had never set foot on the stage beyond the few minutes spent crossing while playing mas. Some of our own Carnival cohorts said they’d never touched it at all, having only experienced it from trucks or from around it.
What happened that night was grounding. Liberating. Unforgettable.
People arrived honouring legends through their dress, their creativity, and their intention.
For one night, we lived inside a Hall of Fame.
Thank you to the incredible team who helped build our Legends Ball.
This moment will live with me forever. 🖤✨
