Happy International Museum Day! ๐๏ธ
This yearโs theme focuses on museums as catalysts for connectionโreminding us that these are more than spaces of preservation. They are trusted public spaces where we encounter stories, objects, and one another to foster dialogue, inclusion, and peace.
To celebrate, we have a line-up of programs this National Heritage Month designed to highlight the traditions, crafts, and forms of artistic expression that connect us all:
May 19: Our brand-new textiles exhibition opens, centering around shared weaving and embroidery techniques across different indigenous groups.
May 23: The first AMagine Kids Expressive Arts Workshop, giving children a meaningful space to create and express themselves.
May 24: An exciting conversation and hands-on workshop with Filipina fashion and heritage icon, Patis Tesoro.
Donโt forget our NHM Pass! ๐
From now until May 28, guests who purchase a 2F exhibition ticket can enjoy Full Museum Access to all our galleries. This special offer is available every Tuesday to Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Plan your visit and view full details at ayalamuseum.org/events/national-heritage-month-pass
Give your kids a space to slow down and create before the new school year begins. ๐จ
On May 23 (Saturday), weโre hosting our very first AMagine Kids Workshop, designed for children ages 6โ10. From 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, participants will enjoy an afternoon of guided expressive arts.
What is Expressive Art?
Unlike traditional art classes, expressive art focuses on the process of making art rather than the final output. It uses different modalities like writing, painting, dance amongst others, as a therapeutic tool, though it is NOT the same as clinical art therapy. Here, the value lies in the experience of creating.
During the session, weโll ask questions like:
๐๏ธ"How do you feel about the process?"
๐๏ธ"What surprised or challenged you?"
๐๏ธ"If you could speak to your work, what would you say?"
Ready to let their imagination lead the way?
