Thank you so much for the enthusiasm surrounding the new Shibori Stands. I truly did not anticipate how quickly the first batch would sell out.
We still have a few stands currently in stock and ready to ship immediately. Once those are gone, pre-orders for the next handmade batch will continue to be accepted.
These stands are produced in small batches, not mass-produced, and each one takes time to source, build, assemble, and prepare properly for studio use. Because of that, the next production cycle will take approximately one month to complete.
My goal has always been to create a sturdy, studio-quality stand inspired by traditional Japanese textile processes — something designed to actually be used for years in the studio.

March 2027 at Aya Fiber Studio — Katazome returns.
Katazome is one of Japan’s most refined textile traditions: a disciplined process of hand-cut stencils, rice paste resist, layered pattern, and dye. In this immersive workshop, students will explore the quiet rhythm of repetition, precision, and cloth transformation while learning traditional approaches adapted for contemporary studio practice.
We will work with authentic materials and techniques, including katagami stencil design and cutting, rice paste application, resist methods, and layered surface development. This is slow cloth. Thoughtful cloth. Cloth that carries the hand of the maker.
Small group instruction allows time for individual guidance, discussion, and deeper exploration of process.
If Japanese textiles, pattern, indigo, and surface design speak to you, this workshop is something truly special.
