"Youāre going to tell me that once I log off all this stuff just fades away? Iād ask you to give yourself a reality check because all of this is real, it happened to me, I saw it with my eyes, I felt it, I could hear it, that shit was real man. "
Mutant on Mutant, Performance Panel at Further Confusion (FC) 2024 in San Jose, California. This was my first time facilitating a collective performance in the format of a panel at FC, a furry convention I have been attending since 2014.
This reading performance consisted of 30 minutes of improvised body contact improv, prompted by a curiosity of how each actor would embody their fursona, one's personal furry character.
Featured performers were: Atmus (@tommybruce ) + Milou(@birdfingersss ) + RamDamn + Maelstrom + Chomper + Myself, Smoopa.
āWhere is Smoopa Spinottiā? was a one day exhibition I facilitated within @ekagd_ma ās Drama Wall in late 2022. Vinyl stickers comprised of two of my Second Life (SL) avatarsā (Smoopa and Xerox) body parts and attachments claim their space on the wooden wall panels. I read aloud each avatarās attachments, labeling each object on the wall after it was read aloud, like a conjuration for these digital creatures. I log into my SL account, viewable by the participants on a shortthrow projector, itās image taking up the rest of the wall. I am joined by a long time SL friend Scuddy (@devilgot ), and we provide a live demonstration and discussion about the process of shopping for, curating, and modding (customizing) an avatar, as well as our own relationships with these bodies, and how we see eachother in our respective virtual critters. Each attendee also received a small sticker sheet and zine explaining SL and who Smoopa Spinotti really is. A month later, I was met with by a friend in the club, with these stickers scrawled over two pages.
