(EN) Ivan Hunga Garcia, They, Them (b. 2000, Abrantes, Portugal), develops a multidisciplinary practice across fashion, speculative design, and biotechnology, with a focus on regenerative processes and the sensorial qualities of materials. Currently enrolled in the Master in Design for Emergent Futures, a program of IAAC and ELISAVA (2025/27), their work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including: “Dirty Looks” at Barbican Centre in London (2025-26), “F.A.U.X” solo exhibition at Saco Azul / Maus Hábitos (Porto, 2025) and at the Funchal Arts & Design Biennial (2025) and the Contextile – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial (2018).
Abril Xavier (b. 1998, Santo Tirso, Portugal) is a visual artist whose transdisciplinary practice intersects identity, resistance, and transformation, exploring organic materials such as hair and plants.
Graduating at FBAUP, she has developed an artistic path marked by experimentation between nature and intimacy, creating pieces that inhabit the boundary between the ephemeral and the permanent. Her material research reflects a deep interest in mutability, both of natural elements and of the body itself.

Very happy to announce that my next short film, Abril de Helena (Abril, Helena’s daughter), which I co-directed with Maria Moreira, will have its premiere at IndieLisboa 2026.
Synopsis:
In a new daily life, Abril, a trans woman, chooses her mother Helena as her primary caregiver for a facial feminization surgery. With maternal gestures, Helena cares for Abril with the same gaze she had when her daughter was little.
