Reflecting on Saturday night, being invited by
@eatyourownears to open for the iconic
@annacalvi at one of my favourite venues
@earthackney ❤️ I have been touched deeply by the kindness of my friends
@ax.probs &
@sandrafp driving me there, helping me unload and sell merch, filming, supporting me to achieve a dream (with 12 hours notice) - I am so grateful for you both and your families (
@sophiehomes @dar_elias !) who adjusted their plans to make it happen 🙏🏻 I was also really moved by people who came up to me after the show and others who messaged me on here. For such a long time I felt that talking about my illness on stage was a taboo, that maybe it would put people off somehow. The last couple of shows I’ve done, I’ve decided to kick that thought out of the window and I’ve opened up about my struggles living with Neuro/Pulmonary(&more) #sarcoidosis and each time, an audience member has shouted out “You’re doing great!” and everyone has applauded. Two entirely different shows, different locations, different people and exactly the same reaction. So I am taking your message with me, as a mantra for the days that aren’t so easy. Thank you ❤️ I was also so happy to hear from others of you living with illness, that you had felt seen by my words. Sharing dissipates shame, so let’s keep talking. 📸 by
