She didn’t give me much issues with poses because mummy has all her poses in mind

When @ad_noble reached out to book this session, I could already tell it was going to be a special one. The brief was simple but intentional: he wanted a clean, well lit portrait that fused modern African style with a calm, editorial polish. I knew immediately we’d go for a studio based shoot, keeping full control of light and ambiance to create something timeless.
We finalized the booking a week prior. I asked for a few reference images and wardrobe options so I could begin visualizing the tones and feel. When he sent a photo of the patterned shirt and cream pants, I built the color palette around it muted, warm, rich olive tones. I chose a seamless olive green backdrop to complement his outfit and skin tone without overpowering the frame.
On the day of the shoot, everything ran smoothly.
I used a single large parabolic softbox, slightly camera-left and above eye level. This gave a soft fall-off on the cheekbones and added that clean, cinematic feel. A reflector on the right side bounced just enough light back to lift the shadows.

When it came to posing
He ready energy focused. We began with basic standing poses to warm up, then eased into more intentional expressions. His pose in this final frame palms together, body centered, eyes locked in was a spontaneous in between shot I almost missed. But that’s the magic: real moments happen between the planned ones.
