Hosted at Sankofa Haus, the series spotlights artists like drummer and bandleader Adriel Vincent-Brown, who leads the genre-blending ensemble @avtheforce , fusing jazz with Caribbean rhythms.
The new series aims to make jazz more accessible in the borough. Each show aims to highlight a new generation of performers while honoring the Bronx’s deep musical roots.

An immersive jazz experience with an Afro-Caribbean twist, created to invoke imagination, spark rhythm in the soul, and activate the conversations we don’t always know we need.
Spearheaded by Adriel Vincent-Brown - @avtheforce , this monthly experience will make @sankofahaus the room to be in — at least one Tuesday every month for the rest of the year.

I had to pull up support and perform alongside the talented drummer and jazz musician @avtheforce for his live set for @thirdavejazz at @sankofahaus right here in the mecca, Bronx NY.
Right after the set we got a chance to chop it with bandleader Adriel Vincent-Brown about the origins of @jazzandapplepie , the collaboration with @djspynfo and the hip-hop addition to the collective most known for a carribean-fusion sound.

This is the first half of my composition AoA which I wrote for dancer and improviser Ashley Green, also had the honor of performing it live with her for her Ailey on Ailey showcase. I did playback from my laptop and played drums on that occasion, playing it with the full band is the truth. The goal is to play with the band, a string section and with Ashley’s Choreography. In the mean time I’ll probably be doing it with the band tomorrow @saintpetersnyc along with some other originals. It’s free so come out and support!
