What happens if the pilot arrives late to the airport? šāļø
I asked Stefano, an Avion Express Captain⦠and he said itās almost impossible.
Why?
Because crews are usually based in hotels right next to the airport, with tight schedules and crew transport.
The only way it gets messy is a freak scenario, like the crew bus going to the wrong airport, then youāre stuck fighting traffic back.
Then he dropped two simple travel tips that honestly changed my habits:
ā Get an AirTag (Iāve lost my luggage twice in 2026⦠AirTag = peace of mind)
ā Arrive early - especially if you donāt know the airport layout.
Season picks?
āļø Winter: Italy (skiing)
āļø Summer: anywhere because pilots already see the world on repeat.
How early do you arrive for your flight?š

Have you ever noticed our Cabin Crew wearing pins with stars on their uniforms? This means that this person is truly exceptional and recognized by their colleagues! This is our initiative STARS, which has been running for a few years now, and we have just celebrated the winners of the first quarter of this year. š
STARS Campaign is a recognition initiative which allows our Cabin Crew to nominate their peers for one of the STARS qualities, and celebrate exceptional achievements in five categories: teamwork, respectfulness, service-mindedness, representative appearance, and smile. We are really proud to see how many team members are engaged and ready to recognize each otherās efforts and exceptional performance in their everyday jobs.
Congratulations, STARS winners, and thank you to our entire team, keep shining! āļøš«
Whatās a pilotās favourite destination?
I asked, Cpt. Franco Narcisi, Chief Pilot at Avion Express @avionexpress šØš»āāļø(@airbus A320 Captain, Type Rating Instructor + Examiner):
āAs a pilot⦠whatās your favourite destination to fly and travel to?ā
He smiled and said Brazil - a place he still remembers from his time as a military pilot. (Fun fact: he first got inspired to fly from @f1 1 and the original @tomcruise Top Gun movie.)
But then he said something that stuck with me:
Pilots donāt always have one āfavourite place.ā
Sometimes you want Europe. Sometimes you want home. Sometimes you want the other side of the world. Your mind changes fast, and thatās part of the job.
Then his passenger advice was even better:
āChange the destination,ā and āVisit as many destinations as you can.ā
If youāve already been somewhere⦠why repeat it when the world is massive and life is short?
His personal standouts: Iceland (for the unreal landscapes) and Hainan, China, where he was based for seven years.
So Iām asking you:
Do you re-visit your favourites⦠or chase new stamps every time?

Happy Womenās Day! āļøš
Itās often said that ACMI seasonality is difficult to explain. But we explain it very simply - we basically follow the summer all year long, moving an aircraft to where summer begins, from where it has just ended. And thatās exactly how it looks - just like in our video.
For pilots, it means shaping your flying career across diverse operations, immersing yourself in new cultures, and flying a schedule defined by the rhythm of global seasons.
Currently, we have open positions for A320 Captains from around the world, so take a look at our offer (link in bio), stay tuned for more, and apply if you feel we could be the right fit for you. Itās a distinctive way to experience aviation, adventure, and professional development all at once.

We're continuing our short ACMI series, and this time we speak about how we introduce ACMI to traditional airlines. āļø
We asked our Head of Business Development Americas, Roberto Held, and hereās what he shared:
ACMI:
ā Provides fleet flexibility, enabling airlines to quickly adjust capacity and strategy during peak seasons.
ā Supports cost optimization and operational efficiency during low-demand periods.
ā Enhances overall operational performance by allowing capacity adjustments across different seasonal cycles.
Thank you, Roberto, for being part of this short ACMI series. There is more to come - stay tuned!
Pilot Expo has just flown by, and weāre truly grateful to have been there with our team! āļø
A big thank you to the organizers, the participants, and everyone we had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to our team for sharing valuable insights and experience with such a wide audience. Thank you all! āļøš§āāļø
As we continue exploring the ACMI lifestyle and what it really looks like from a pilotās perspective, we sat down with our Captains in a fresh, conversational format to talk openly about it. Thatās how the A320 Captains Podcast was born. šļøāļø
For this episode, we invited our Chief Pilot, Franco Narcisi, and Chief of Line Training Captains, Stefano Miotto, for an honest discussion about life as a Captain at Avion Express.
This conversation focuses on honest opinions, personal experiences, and practical examples. As Franco shared, if a podcast like this had existed when he was making his decision, it would have made the choice much easier.
