👉 New Case Study Release: Northmoor Road, Oxford

It’s with great pleasure that we share one of our most unique and prestigious residential projects to date, the intelligent renovation of Northmoor Road, Oxford, the former family home of J.R.R. Tolkien, where much of The Lord of the Rings was written.
Working closely with the homeowners, architects and heritage planning teams, AVINU designed and delivered a fully integrated KNX building management system that carefully balances modern living with the preservation of this historically significant property.
This project was entirely led by design sensitivity and user experience, ensuring technology supports the home discreetly and elegantly rather than dominating it. The scope included:
• Intelligent lighting, heating, cooling & shading control
• Integrated audio, TV, cinema & security
• Heritage-sensitive installation throughout
• Unified KNX automation across the entire property
• Bespoke control interfaces featuring custom LOTR-inspired iconography
We are also proud that this became the first UK installation of the Eelectron OL-U switch range, finished in brushed bronze and customised specifically for the home and its functions.

It’s with great pleasure that we share our latest residential project, a beautifully remodelled penthouse apartment in King’s Cross, London.
Working closely with our client, we developed a comprehensive and elegant control strategy, aligning technology with lifestyle to create a home that is intuitive, efficient and truly enjoyable to live in.
This project is a strong example of what can be achieved when design, engineering and collaboration come together.
Our Approach: At AVINU, every project begins with understanding how our clients want to live. For Plimsoll, this meant:

A great moment for the team this week.
On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of receiving our KNX UK Award for Best Residential Project 2025, presented during an event hosted by @my_knx
It was a great event, with @knxukassociation sharing insight into the continued growth of KNX across the UK, before presenting the award to us in front of industry peers.
Receiving the trophy from Iain Gordon, Chair of KNX UK, made it all the more special, a proud moment for everyone involved.
As always, projects like this are never delivered in isolation. They are the result of collaboration across a wider ecosystem of manufacturers, distributors and industry partners, all aligned in delivering intelligent, well-designed homes.
