I can no longer bear to share my art on Instagram or Facebook - it takes hours and hours for me to make, and in an amorphous & agnostic sense, it's the closest thing I have to a spiritual practice. Please search your soul if you are embracing this "AI revolution" without question. This is not simply another new technology like typewriters, photography, synths, photoshop. It involves theft from actual artists, and devalues their work. It also has a devastating environmental impact, at a time when we desperately need to reduce our energy consumption. I know damage has already been done - I had a lot of work on here for a long time. But to throw up my hands and capitulate makes no sense to me and is not in line with how I want to live, so I'm saying goodbye to Meta. Step aside Chipmunks, I have finally made my Christmas album. More accurately: a soundtrack for the first day of winter. A Little Light Six pieces for four string electric guitar, gudok, chalumeau, keyboard, voice, and percussion. Releases December 21st, the winter solstice. Pre-orders begin today! @cruelnaturerecs is putting out a limited edition cassette, and you can download it digitally on my Bandcamp page. Thanks to Steve at Cruel Nature for doing a tape release, to @thevaliska for mastering, and to @nbelectrorepair for souping up my formerly basic ribbon mic and turning it into something special. I used it to record almost everything on this album. Thanks also to Patreon subscribers for helping me to keep on keeping on in these trying times. The preview track, "Coral" is built on a repeating phrase I played on a busted keyboard that is very much on its last legs. I like how you can hear it breaking up a little if you listen closely. The lyric started as a response to Gertrude Abrcrombie's paintings, and then went off in its own direction, and feels very much in the spirit of this time of year. I made the video using footage from two educational films from the 60s/70s.
