Words. Sound. Art. Community. This is the Eastside. 🔥
Avenue 50 Studio has been a home for it all — poetry and literary events, sound baths, drum circles, artist talks, and art show receptions that celebrate the rich cultural fabric of our neighborhood.
As part of the Eastside Arts Initiative, we’re proud to document the power of what happens when a community gathers around art. This is that story.

LA PALABRA ON APRIL 26‼️🎙️
big transitions and changes have strange and funny timings in our lives. It asks us to look within and forces us to grow up when we’re not ready to. we get caught in a push and pull between old and new ways of being. a discomfort builds on our shoulders— but deep in this tension, is where poetry begins. we learn to sit in the ugly, murky swamp of uncertainty and find the words to write our way out of the dark.
how has poetry, music, and literature help you get through your transitional phases?
come and listen to our features Grace Olguin, Alejandra Rogerro and hector son of hector share us the poems written while navigating such changes and phases in life.
Open mic sign ups start at 1:45.
Our open mic has no strict theme, 3-5 mins.
We also encourage everyone to come earlier and write ekphrastic poetry on the current exhibit: The Sierras Of California

a belated thank you to our wonderful features Sam and Tori, and guest host Laura for celebrating Women’s Month with us at the last La Palabra. It was an honor hearing poems born out of womanhood, and most especially words celebrating our matriarchs. We stand in solidarity with all the women who continue to face the struggles of living in a patriarchal society. ✊🏽❤️🔥
