In 2014, God sent a man into my life named Omartee… and till today, I still refer to him as - an Angel in human form. ❤️
While he was in Malaysia, we somehow connected and started chatting. The first time he came back to Nigeria, I went all the way to Festac frm Ajah just to see him because I asked him jokingly, “Wetin you bring for me?” 😅
He told me: polo, perfume and canvas.
But when it was time to hand them over, he paused and asked me one question that changed my life forever…
“Avalon, wetin you really need?”
I opened up to him and told him about my struggles. I was just a young filmmaker who had recently moved to Lagos chasing greener pastures and trying to survive with nothing but dreams, passion and hunger for greatness.
I told him I needed basic filming equipment to pursue my vision.
That same day, he took me to GTBank and transferred ₦200,000 to me.
A total stranger? 😭
I was shocked. Happy. Speechless.
I went back to the place I was squatting in Ajah (
@ruffcoinnwaba 's place) thanking GOD endlessly for this miracle.
But the real shock hadn’t even come yet…
The next day, this same angel called me again and said:
“Avalon, I’ve asked around and I don’t think ₦200,000 is enough to get the equipment you need.”
Before I could even process what was happening, he sent another ₦400,000.
Making it ₦600,000 total. 😭😭
Omo… na there my real journey for Lagos begin.
Na with that money I buy my Canon 70D, slider and some lights. Na so my video career take really start for this city.
But wait… the biggest shock of my life was still waiting for me.
January 2015,
@omarteegram was travelling back abroad and begged me to escort him to the airport. I agreed immediately even though I was supposed to be at work that day at SoundCity TV.
When we got to the airport, he came down from the driver’s seat, opened the boot, brought out his luggage and then handed me the car keys.
I asked him:
“Where I wan park your motor?”
He smiled and said:
“You now own an SUV. I dash you.”
😭😭😭
If you ever knew me with that Nissan Infiniti FX45… yes, it was a gift. And this man gave it to me.
Omo, I cried like a baby that day.
