Over the next 12 months, they will work at the intersection of technology, governance, and innovation in helping advance a more efficient, connected, and digitally empowered Africa.

AU-EU Summit Model 2026 officially commenced today!
The opening ceremony featured inspiring remarks from distinguished guests including Pascal Delisle, Head of Political Section at the EU Delegation to the African Union; Prudence Ngwenya, Director of Women, Gender and Youth at the African Union Commission; alongside keynote speakers and H.E Amb Willy Nyamite representative and Amb. Liberata Mulamula AU Special Envoy Women Peace ,who set a powerful tone for intercontinental cooperation and youth engagement.
The day continued with dynamic committee sessions and policy discussions under the theme “Aligning Priorities for Cooperation: Security Partnerships, Sustainable Investment and Green Transition,” setting a strong and engaging foundation for the days ahead. Delegates showcased their enthusiasm, leadership, and dedication to strengthening AU–EU cooperation through dialogue, negotiation, and shared solutions.

Addis Ababa was buzzing with energy last week as the 12 fellows officially kicked off new chapters of their careers with the African Union Digital & Innovation Fellowship.
Hosted at the AU Headquarters and the GIZ African Union office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the fellows engaged with AU leaders, experts and the program partners over two days of learning, connection and exchange.
From immersive sessions on navigating the AU system to practical workshops on leadership with Lead Beyond, to innovation and product thinking sessions by Hagernesh Tibebu, it was a rich journey equipping the fellows with the expert insights and tools needed to step confidently into their roles.
Our favorite part? An open fireside chat delivered by former AU Fellows, sharing their experiences as thriving young professionals at the AU systems.
What's Next?
The fellows have already been placed in their 12-months roles across various AU departments, actively contributing to shaping Africa's digital future.
