Happy first day of autumn! 🍂 In light of this special day, here is a little about me, Autumn. I’m a bit scared to share this post if I’m being completely honest. I don’t know if anyone will even read it or care, but it was quite therapeutic for me to make. It took… significantly longer than I’d like to admit to hand write every slide 😅 but I wanted to make sure you know that I in fact mean what’s written. I haven’t been as open online over the past few years and I want to change that. Scrolling social media tricks us into believing that we’re still interacting with others, but more often than not it’s left me feeling very alone. I crave authentic connection, not likes. I want to know more about the people and artists I follow too, so I created this post as a way for anyone new to my page to get to know me a little better as they’re taking a peek at my work. If you make it all the way to the end, I’m so thankful for your time! Do we have anything in common?? I feel more isolated than ever and I’d love to make friends! 🤗 #autumn

We’ve been having a blast on our Arches & Canyonlands National Parks workshop this week! This spot is one of my absolute favorites, and it was such an honor to share it with wonderful company. We have one more night together under the shimmering stars, and I’m feeling ever so grateful to have made more friends who adore the night sky as much as I do 🤩 Want to join @nateinthewild and me right here next year? Our 2027 Arches & Canyonlands workshop is now live!

Happy Halloween! 🧝🏼‍♀️ I am absolutely ✨obsessed✨ with this Lord of the Rings Elvish keyboard and Fellowship desk mat that @drop sent me, so obviously I had to see what it would be like if LOTR took place in modern day. And no, this meeting could not have been an email.

Happy Moonday! 🌙 One of the things I love most about the moon is how different it appears and feels over the course of a month. A crescent moon feels delicate and contemplative. Pair it with flowing water during twilight and you get something that just feels tranquil. A full moon is the opposite. It’s bold and imposing and it demands dramatic landscapes to match. The drama kind of writes itself. I put together a complete guide on environmental moon photography to explain how to create images where the moon interacts with landscapes instead of being isolated in the frame. It’s something I’ve wanted to make for a while now, and I’m really excited to finally share it with you! It covers: - Choosing moon phases for the mood you want - Camera settings for sharp images - Planning alignments with tools, like PhotoPills - What to do when weather rolls in (because it will 😅) - Post-processing for a natural look Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been shooting the moon for a while, I tried to make it genuinely helpful without losing the magic of why we do this in the first place. You can find the link to the guide on my page! The moon is a waxing crescent this week—are you ready? 🌝

Experiencing Greenland this way was nothing short of spectacular. Many think of this place as the land of ice, and while the majority of it is, the southern end is about as dramatic as landscapes can get 😍 By choosing our own adventure and traveling via sailboat, we were able to create a custom dream itinerary. We had the freedom to decide which fjords to explore, where to camp and for how long, and which remote settlements to visit. Aappilattoq was certainly a favorite stop of mine. Photos truly don’t showcase just how staggeringly massive the peak is that towers above the settlement. Only 80-100 people call Aappilattoq home, but everyone that we encountered was so warm and welcoming to us strangers. I cannot wait to get back to Greenland this summer (for the total solar eclipse!) to experience a new area of this special territory.

I will always look back fondly on these photos from me and @nateinthewild ’s first trip together. We’ve both grown so much in the 9 years, in general and in our work, and it’s both wild and heartwarming for me to look at these older photos from a very different time. But how could I ever forget that rush of something new, exploring beautiful places while learning more about each other, the magical feeling of finally finding your person? It was far from a perfect trip—I actually found out that my grandmother passed away while we were on this adventure, but that kid sure knew how to keep me smiling from day one. Forever grateful for you, BBN8 💚

It’s Earth Day 🌎 Here’s a (not so) friendly reminder that this is our only home and that we aren’t the only living things who need her. Protect her at all costs.

I stepped out of my tent in the Yukon to one of the most peaceful sunrises of my life 😌 I don’t know about you, but I could sit and watch colorful clouds somersault all day long #yukonterritory #camping #landscapephotography #timelapse

Happy Moonday! 🌙 And what a special Moonday it is! The Artemis II crew are about to fly around the far side of our magnificent moon. They have already surpassed the record for distance from Earth set way back in 1970. As a moon lover, this whole mission has been giving me life in a period of immense anxiety and despair. I think many of us have needed this thrilling moment of human exploration to (ironically) bring humankind closer together. I am beyond proud to see @astro_christina inspiring girls and women all across the globe 💛 AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE

This one’s for you, @luebigan 🐻 I went to @katmainpp almost three years ago and hadn’t even looked through any of my 11,745 photos that I shot until this past week. I knew right after the trip that I didn’t get the one shot that I wanted, and I felt a fairly hefty lack of confidence of what I *did* capture. WHICH IN HINDSIGHT WAS SO SILLY. I have felt incredibly grateful for the experience of even being able to visit and witness the majesty of Alaskan brown bears chowing down on thousands of salmon. But there was also a part of me that felt afraid to look through my photos. “What if they’re all bad? What if I’m a failure? What if I’m actually a bad photographer?” These are actual questions that I asked myself when I would think about this trip and the photos that I took. And then, several years later, I finally realized that I probably did get some great photos (even if they weren’t what I had envisioned). I’m happy to say that I think I was right! Our brains are fickle machines, aren’t they? So easy to trick us into believing the worst thoughts about ourselves, but I’m (slowly) learning more and more how to quiet those tricksy little brain lies. I am more capable than I know. Impostor syndrome is soooo much fun 🙃 Anyone else relate?
