Amazing time at the IOM TT the last few days. Huge thank you to everyone at @fho_racing for looking after @rickstunts and I on our visit over.
The whole crew @fho_racing , @hickyracer60 and @joshbrookes25 put some serious effort in to achieve the records and results they did, the TT is never easy! An incredible achievement.
Huge respect to every competitor at the event, it’s a paddock full of passion to race.

Well here it is! My Hakosuka L28 race exhaust manifold. Fresh from the Tig torch. Harry (@kam_fab ) did a great job of welding it all up for me. Next job will be fitting it in the car and getting on with the rest of the exhaust system. So exited to get this car on the road. Few bits still to do but this is a big step closer.

A batch of these frames were completed recently. And it made me realise how little of our actual work (not toys) I put on here. It’s a great example of the sort of things we get up to. This race bike chassis was designed and manufactured, in house, by the autonomy team. Designed by our chief designer/race bike chassis guru Mark and beautifully assembled and brazed by Harry (@kam_fab )

I’ve not posted any updates for ages on my Nissan skyline ‘Hakosuka’…it is still very much alive and kicking. The new suspension kit for it turned up recently and it made me realise I should post it up as it might be of interest to some people.
I ended up going with this particular set up after speaking with Jamel at @finalheaven.jdm in Japan, we went through the options available for suspension kits for my GC10 ‘Hakosuka’ and I decided on having a custom built set from Protec/aragosta. Jamel arranged everything with them and even sourced me a set of original struts in Japan for the conversion…this was a huge help as it saved me stripping the struts from my car and shipping them out to Japan. Absolutely fantastic service, everything organised smoothly and efficiently with the parts arriving in the UK within a week of shipping. I will get a few more posts up when I fit them and hopefully drive the car this year.

After 5ish years of playing around with this silly old girl, I finally took her out for a proper drive.
So what did I learn after 2 hours of B roads and some dual carriageways…
It’s fast…brutal fast for an old N/A straight six and there’s more power yet to come.
Sounds amazing…but It’s very noisy when cruising.
Temp and oil pressure were good the whole drive.
The gearbox will definitely be the next thing to address as the old standard box isn’t ideal.
In general it drives amazingly well on the road considering it would rather be a race car with that motor in it. I guess I’m at the crossroads where I have to make it more comfortable to use more often or build it silly and risk not driving it as much…I’m leaning towards making it more road friendly at the minute.

I recently finished modifying the new steel wheels for the Hakosuka. I love the look of the early pgc10 racecars, running steel wheels and period Dunlop race tyres….so that’s what I’ve gone for. I think it suits the tatty old girl. Next up re wire for the new ECU.

Well I had it running and driving briefly this year at least…And it sounds incredible! unfortunately I’m now about to pull it apart again to swap the ECU for something a little more user friendly. I say it every year but…next year I’m driving it!

The skyline is ridiculously close to being able to take it for a drive. As long as the last few jobs go smoothly I’m hoping it’ll be ready for mapping in the next few weeks.

I’ve been making good progress on the Skyline lately. Everything is now wired in, connected and working as it should. I have even started re assembly of the interior (it needs carpet). My favourite new addition is the NOS Spitfire/Lancaster engine starting switch…much cooler than anything new I could find!

I spent the whole of yesterday basically making my to do list even longer😂
Fitted the new throttle linkage and cable…but the pedal feel is way too stiff so I need to look at either the cable route or reduce the amount of return springs in the assembly. So that all needs to come apart. Also thought I’d fixed a wiring issue but I think I’ve created a few more. Frustrating when it seems so close to being drive able…it’ll get there!
