Timeline
The initial outlines of APK Protocol were drawn in 2018, followed by a beta release of Protocol Regular in 2020. In collaboration with Swiss type designer Maël Bächtold, the Regular was expanded into a full typeface family and officially released in 2021. The family was further extended in 2023 with the addition of a Medium weight.

APK Narrative
A contemporary grotesque family combining the best aspects of recent APK fonts in a freshly drawn and slightly more condensed fashion. The project was started in September 2023 and we are happy to finally launch the complete type family.
Default/Alternates
The Default set strives to go as minimal as possible on a recognizable skeleton of the archetypal modern grotesque. The Alternate set brings more curves and feeling to the typeface.
Unique Italics
APK Narrative pioneers an unique style in Italics that is defined by the fact that all terminals of the horizontal bars are cut off 100% vertically.
Specs
The APK Narrative family consists of 7 weights + 7 styles (Italics) and has an extensive character set of 622 glyphs and 9 named Stylistic sets that support 112 languages.
It also has a Mono version of Regular.

"Uplift Me / Lift me Up"
Our poster for Spieren voor Spieren (Muscles for Muscles).
Seven designers from 's-Hertogenbosch and the surrounding area created a charity poster that's guaranteed to make you sweat. Numbered, signed, and printed on beautiful paper, they're available in limited editions until December 24th at the City Shop "de Moriaan" on the market square in 's-Hertogenbosch.
"Spieren voor Spieren" is the charity of 3FM Serious Request! From December 18th to 24th, DJs Mart Meijer, Sophie Hijlkema, and Barend van Deelen will be broadcasting 24/7 on radio, television, and online content to raise money for children with muscle diseases.

We’ve lost a great one. Rutger was a creative force that impacted many of us, fellow designers and friends, in such a positive way. He will be missed.
Rutger was constantly seeking new creative challenges and exploring uncharted fields. Throughout his life, he mastered a wide array of crafts, always pushing the boundaries of his skills.
Rutger was once our intern at @attak and later our High on Type colleague. We didn’t see each other that often through the years, but we made sure to have annual or biannual meetups for beers and pizza with the (old) @highontype crew. Most recently we worked together on a LP design for Versalife.
This is one of his artworks.

In this election time the media is bombed by politicians and their talk. It’s tiring already. As the concept for this years project is ‘Festival’ I took the free earplugs you’ll find at festivals and put them to use for muting our politicians and saving our ears. As only a few have something to say..
