Today is a very special birthday for 𝒜𝓊𝓉𝑜ᴇʀᴏᴛ.ᴄᴀ shop owner Patrick Batt 🎈 The big 8-OH! In honor of Patrick’s day, you can read the Esquire Magazine piece @natewasthere wrote a couple years ago. We also made a documentary short about Patrick and the Castro shop which toured festivals and won some awards in 2025! 🔗 Both links are in our bio 🔗 Wishing you a wonderful day of celebration, Patrick! Splendor in the Grass 🌾 This handsome outdoorsman who is adding his own natural charms to those of father nature comes to us from Eros. His name is Tony and as you might expect, his background is Italian. Eros told us that Tony has been fond of the outdoors since he was a boy, so they decided it would be the ideal place to photograph this hunky Italian-American, a spot that would make Tony feel right at home. It was a good chance. Tony doffed his duds and happily bared his all. And all is plenty. Tony is definitely not the type to be fenced in, something apparent in his eyes which reflect more than a little wander-lust. And perhaps another sort of lust as well. He likes his spaces wide open and, with his love for travel, any place he hangs his hat is home. Maybe Tony will settle down some day, but for now we find him to be a very special sort of splendor in the grass that we’d definitely like to give a roll in the hay before he disappears down the pike. We hope you’ll agree. Maybe the following color spread will convince you. • See more from this issue by subscribing to our Substack 🔗 Link in bio 🔗 A subscription gets you 2-3 emails weekly including uncropped images from our Instagram feed. • Honcho / January 1980 • Photography by Eros • Also in this issue: illustration Domino, And Flesh to Boot by Phillip Beard • Subject to prior sale • 𝒜𝓊𝓉𝑜ᴇʀᴏᴛ.ᴄᴀ, gay owned and operated, located in the heart of the world-famous Castro district, is both a living museum of LGBTQ history as well as a retail shop selling items of interest to those interested in saving that history. Your Main Man 🥇 If he looks familiar, he should. Your many cards and letters have told us that this model was your favorite in a year’s worth of Honcho men. You begged for another look at him and here it is. Last time out, he was the Hunk on a Log. This guy doesn’t need any props, though; with or without that log, he’s one prime stud, the one that launched a thousand wet dreams. He is sporting a little something new this time around, and the first man who writes and tells us what it is wins a free subscription to Honcho. • See more from this issue in tomorrow’s Substack newsletter 🔗 Link in bio 🔗 A subscription gets you 2-3 emails weekly including uncropped images from our Instagram feed. • Honcho / May 1986 • Photography by Graven Image • Also in this issue: COD (cover) by Surge Studio, On the Loading Dock by Romeo • Subject to prior sale • 𝒜𝓊𝓉𝑜ᴇʀᴏᴛ.ᴄᴀ, gay owned and operated, located in the heart of the world-famous Castro district, is both a living museum of LGBTQ history as well as a retail shop selling items of interest to those interested in saving that history. May 16 is Armed Forces Day in the US 🇺🇸 Hello, Sailor! A Salute to the Boys in Blue: ‘As a rule, g@y sailors are at the top of their class, show excellent job performance and have a positive impact on morale. Yet the Navy perceives these men as a “disgrace to their country.” On the contrary, it is their country that disgraces them.’ • In Touch for Men Number 55 / May 1981 • Subject to prior sale • Subscribe to our Substack & follow us on Bluesky 🔗 Links in bio 🔗 A subscription gets you 2-3 emails weekly including uncropped images from our Instagram feed. • 𝒜𝓊𝓉𝑜ᴇʀᴏᴛ.ᴄᴀ, gay owned and operated, located in the heart of the world-famous Castro district, is both a living museum of LGBTQ history as well as a retail shop selling items of interest to those interested in saving that history. The Sky’s the Limit ☁️ The army fatigues rip and tear when he undresses. You can almost feel his warm breath. When a man looks like Sky and has that kind of body, you almost don’t know where to start. Almost! It doesn’t take long. Sky grabs hold of you with an on target stare. You follow him. He tells you to make a fool of yourself. You do. He invites you for a long session of fantasy. You jump. He takes you on a ride to another planet. You gloat. A ripped denim jacket, a little leather and that t-shirt rolled up to his armpit are all it takes to sweep you off your feet. And you can’t help yourself. After all that beauty, there has to be a little pain. Sky opens up his jacket, wields the studded belt and looks you squarely in the eye. It’s no time for amateurs. When Sky wants you to get down, he’s not talking tomorrow. His need is immediate. He’s ready for a man who knows how to appreciate his gifts. He’s a challenge, a daredevil, an ace pilot. With Sky, it really is open season. You can go to the limit and beyond. We’re right behind you. • See more from this issue by subscribing to our Substack 🔗 Link in bio 🔗 A subscription gets you 2-3 emails weekly including uncropped images from our Instagram feed. • Mandate / April 1982 • Photography by Bisonnes • Also in this issue: illustration by Richard White & ‘Dance’ Photography by Roy Blakey • Subject to prior sale • 𝒜𝓊𝓉𝑜ᴇʀᴏᴛ.ᴄᴀ, gay owned and operated, located in the heart of the world-famous Castro district, is both a living museum of LGBTQ history as well as a retail shop selling items of interest to those interested in saving that history.
