Void Loops - "Emwhyaskth"
A novel (and now somewhat annoying to me) project. Could've used more rendering and manipulation of the loops, among other faults. From 2019, and all titles in an absolutely moronic pseudo-pig-Latin.
Broken Column - “Turn to Ash”
Another tape with very nice @spiritcavemummy artwork. This is from 2020. Yet again with the lofi, “romantic”, circular, blah blah.
Blessé de Guerre - “Wolf Cubs Feast on Gelding Flesh”
This is the final track on the tape from 2019. Loosely inspired by the Tolstoy story “Strider”. Suffering, cruelty, nature; was probably rewatching Balthazar at the time as well. Apart from the ambient Xakatagawa stuff, likely my most “meditative” or spare tape.
Soulstorm - “Strange Angels”
This was from 2020. I really like the logo that @spiritcavemummy did for this project. This portion of lyrics something like “set against the blaze, I see the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Strange angels frozen in the earth, strange angels, frozen in the ground.” What did I mean by this? You’ll never know!
Broken Column - “Born Sideways”
This is from the 2019 cassette “A Doors Edge”. I am obsessed with doors. I think basic idea for this project was stripping it down to most spare, raw version. Hiss piercing the whole thing.
Tollund Men - “Song of Death”
2013. I think I just asked Brett (@total_black ) to do this type of Whitehouse tribute art and I knew I wanted to dedicate it to PF Lacenaire. This tape produced the slogan “Let’s Die” which many seem to still like. Also Brett made the let’s die shirts that people liked.
Disfigure - “Disfigure”
This is from the Eden in Reeds compilation 2XCS from 2014. A side each from projects American Group (Kevin and me), Prison Glue (@phasing.aura ), Flowering Blade (@nightcreatur ), and Disfigure (Kevin and me again). This has some riffs and vocals that are nice from Kevin, and I think I just did drum machine and synths. I don’t have a copy, I wish I did. I thought it was a good compilation. Captured some of the essence of what made the Denver super-underground interesting at the time. I liked the booklet that came with it.
Tollund Men - “Veronika”
This is from the first demo in 2011, and is about as “dense” and “sprawling” as I got with the project.
It’s night in an empty room.
Tollund Men - “Looking for Love”
I think the third release as Tollund Men, probably 2012. @nightcreatur and I opened cassette shells and glued pressed flowers into them. I have no idea how many got made in the end, not many. I wanted to do a cassingle, I don’t have my copy with me right now to show the flower.
Rubber Lover - “Gathering Clouds”
Director Shozin Fukui died about a week ago, I ripped the moniker of this project from his film. I’ve undoubtedly shared this track before, but trying to make this page just clips of past projects of mine.
Similar territory that I always tread—melancholic, rough, erotic, confused grooves—but with vocals processed in a different way than usual.
