I never thought I’d type those words, but I officially turned in my copy edits for TRIGGER HAPPY, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be DONE.
For such a silly, fun, escapist read, this book really put me through the wringer, so much so that I had a hard time talking about it on the internet. I think part of that was editing through postpartum sleep deprivation, but a bigger part was that I changed a lot as a person while writing, which meant the story changed, too.
After I had my daughter, I ended up scrapping most of the original draft and starting over from scratch. This book went through more editing, more revisions, more head-banging than anything I've ever written.
I wrote during sleepless nights, typed notes into my phone while walking my daughter in her bassinet, and kept writing even when I didn’t feel inspired or forgot to brush my teeth for the second day in a row (mamas, iykyk)
Does that make the book good? You tell me 😅 But I’m really proud that I finished this one, and I hope you like it, too.
