THE SUMMER SCRAPBOOK is officially out in the world. And I am officially in all my feels. As solitary as writing can be, publishing a book takes a village, and I am forever grateful to: My beta readers: @ericalyonswrites and @jengelmattern ’s daughter Lydia for helping the idea sprout. Storm @stormliteraryagency and especially @heathercashmanauthor for helping it grow. Lerner @lernerbooks and especially @amyarielfitz for giving it wings. Please let me know if you see my baby out in the world! Ava, Becca, and Cat: I’m so proud of the women you have become. #debutauthor #publishedauthor #releaseday #bookbirthday #thesummerscrapbook

I didn’t know that having my book put in Time Out for making people cry was an author goal, but @auroralydia did it, and here we are. 😂 It’s good tears, I promise. #sorrynotsorry #thesummerscrapbook #mg #debutauthor

Writing/running reflection I did a #5K this morning. Mile 1 was great! Mile 2 was really good, and I usually have bad mile 2s so I was really happy about it. Mile 3 left me questioning all my life choices that brought me to this point. I was struggling. I told myself I just needed to finish, but a little voice inside me reminded me that I wouldn’t be happy with “just finish.” I needed to do the best I could. Reader, I did it. I crossed that finish line, and here’s the photographic proof. I’m in Mile 3 of my #WIP. I’m struggling. I’m questioning. But I need to cross the finish line on the zero draft. If I can push through and finish the race, I can push through and finish this draft. #writerswhorun #amwriting #runnergirl🏃‍♀️

Look what’s here! It’s my copy of #KingCoyote by @executive_auntie ! I was honored to have the opportunity to blurb this heartfelt story and was so psyched to see my words on the back cover and right next to the title page! Congratulations, Rachael on your story out in the world ❤️ #middlegradebooks

Three cheers for THE SUMMER SCRAPBOOK by @authorflorence ! What a fun, nostalgic story soaked in summer sun and middle school drama. I loved joining Ava, Becca, and Cat as they survived (then found ways to thrive!) in their summer breaks spent apart from one another. Middle school friendships can be tricky, and Migga writes with an accuracy that will make you remember your own middle school summers! I especially loved the London scenes. Make sure to check out this 2026 debut!

I’m back on my writing and running reflections and this is about self doubt and perception. On Wednesday I laced up my shoes for my morning run and it was the struggle bus. I was so slow. I was so tired. I felt so heavy. I was sure my pace was pure garbage. But I pushed through, and my lovely phone told me this at the end. My best this year? Really?! Maybe I wasn’t doing as badly as I thought. (Also, I got a compliment on my tank top, second slide, which made me smile.) This week I also had back-to-back rejections on my writing. Rejection is a part of this dream, but it still stings. It still leaves me feeling like maybe my debut novel was some kind of fluke and I’m not good enough to do it again. But if I thought my run was hot garbage and it was actually my best, then maybe my stories aren’t hot garbage either. Maybe I just have to keep pushing through. I’m aiming to get some writing done this weekend and we’ll see how it goes. #WritersWhoRun #amwriting #impostersyndrome #mamaneedsarun #WritingAndRunningReflecfion
