When I started out, I was told YA was hard to sell. I was told writing no spice romantasy would anger some readers (both the spice crowd and the Christian crowd). And it did.
I've gotten my fair share of mean comments and messages, from readers on very different ends of the spectrum. I've learned to just let it all go. To keep writing. To keep my focus on Christ.
I've learned that my writing isn't for everyone (because when we start out, we think we can market to EVERYONE).
I've learned that trad publishing with a small press isn't for me. *It didn't go well for me, but that's just my experience.
I've learned that indie publishing is my JAM. I get to be in control. And that also means doing literally everything. But I'm okay with that.
I've learned that writing and publishing is so much harder than readers realize (but it's also totally doable and learnable).
I've also learned that no matter how much I learn or feel in "control" of my publishing journey, the Lord is the one directing my steps. He's always in control, and that gives me great comfort.
I'll never have it all figured out, but I'm so excited to celebrate this milestone with you all.
