Next week on the podcast 👀 our live audience conversation with French wine importer Thomas Meunier of @authentiquevin at The Vine Club in Atlanta. Featuring the first ever Jeroboam moment on the show, alpine cheese pairings, and a “break all the rules” tasting notes challenge filled with emotional reactions to the wines from our guests. This is one of those episodes that reminds me why I do this podcast 💜 wine people are the best. Thank yall for making this one so special.

Published in last weekend’s local newspaper, this article highlights one of our missions as importer of small, family owned wineries. Our office in France allows us to stay in close touch with the vignerons. By being immersed in their terroir, a few minutes or hours away of their land, we aim to bring them the peace of mind they need to focus on what they do best. In addition, this article offers a positive perspective on the current threat of tariffs. Like the title says “We will know how to handle it” after our experience with the previous round in 2019. Even though the importers take the initial impact of the tariffs’ consequences, you will see no preemptive price increases before tariffs are announced or encouragement to stock up in anticipation of possible future events. We refuse to create an atmosphere stateside that would only double the stress as our growers are already dealing with the consequences of a difficult 2024 harvest. It is our responsibility to find solutions, continue to motivate people with our passion, and to put smiles on faces.

Going through memories of the AV annual French trip of the past week. We ate Mont d’Or “boîtes chaudes”, met donkeys, knighted one another, glued corks on roofs, hugged a lot of vines and had a ton of laughs but most of all we met wonderful people discovered beautiful landscapes and learned a lot about our growers. Thanks a lot to the vignerons who welcomed us so nicely.

NEW WINERY ALERT We are proud to welcome in the Authentique Vin family the Domaine Béatrice and Pascal Lambert in Chinon. Based in Cravant-les-Coteaux, home village to the best Chinon producers, Pascal and son Antoine are leading the way of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Loire since the early 2000's. Their 18 hectares estate is expressing all the complexity of Chinon Terroirs with wines from the three singular soils of "Terrasses” Terroir of alluvial terraces bordering the Vienne river the flow at the foot of the estate, “Perruches” soil made of flint-rich clay, and clay and limestone found on the hillside and plateaux. With single plot expressions from iconic Lieu-dit "Le Chêne Vert" or "La Croix Boissées" and an unusually large proportion of Chinon Blanc parcel they are among the most highly regarded producers of Chinon. Landing next week in North Carolina. For more information /loire-valley/

Happy first day of summer ! We wanted to share on this special day the latest review by Antonio Galloni on Vinous about the Guilhem Rosé 2023 brought to us by #masdedaumasgassac with comments like "The 2023 is brisk, vibrant and delightful from the first taste. Hints of Grapefruit, white flowers, slate and chalk all grace this tasty, focused Rosé" Available in North Carolina through Empire Distributors
