There’s a whole mess of a story of how it ended up printed in @torment_mag issue 5. I’ll save that for another time. For now I just want to congratulate Mikey and @shoeburt on their new video project, “Assisted Living”.

@ryoaizawa_ concrete surfing in Otaru. Yo’s style is just so sick, he can shred anything and make it look rad. One of my favorites with his nimble approach and unique eye for spots.

Unused sequence of @codywarbs 5050 line.
Lil story behind this one… Cody was getting close and the neighbors had already called the cops. These kids walking home from school started a snowball fight with us. It was on. After a solid battle we told them cody had to get this done.
Couple tries and Warbs landed it and flew off the side of the run-out that had not been cleared. Coulda been smoked but he was all good. A few minutes later cops pulled up and couldn’t figure out what the call was about, looking around at the spot and the clearing for the run-out.
We were blocked in the lower lot, laying low in the van hoping they wouldn’t put two and two together. @ted.is.koo got out and asked them if we could pass by. He told them all of it was just those mischievous kids walking by. The cops bought it and let the van cruise out.
Somethin like that…

Story time… Was going thru some drives today and dug this one up. Santa Monica, 2009, same month I graduated high school. We had skated this bank a bunch surf style as kids but back then the lot was super crusty asphalt.
In 2005 saw the boss back 5050’d in Baker 3. Couple years later it was freshly paved and just down the street from the shop I worked at on Main.
We figured out I could hit it after work without getting kicked out. Turned out to be a battle to get the right speed. Eventually had to get towed in by the homies Civic and was able to stick it a couple tries later.
Pretty soon after, someone came into the shop and said Westgate just smith grinded it while I was working. It was rad to eventually see that clip in Stay Gold.
Long story long. Good times pre-instagram void.

Happened to be in SLC a couple different times last year while Broph battled this one. Pretty sure he didn’t even stomp one, for hours until he finally fell once and then landed the next one… or something like that. I don’t get out to shoot skating anymore, so this felt like a special one to get a photograph of the make.
