I will not make a grilled cheese without putting spicy honey on it these days. GC is already a perfect food, to be clear, but the spicy honey makes it even more perfect somehow. Also this quick tomato soup is additionally, perfect:
Roast tomatoes, garlic, onion, and a red pepper on 375° for 20ish mins. Then blend with some chicken stock, a little milk/cream/half & half (whatever you have), and some basil. I swirled some ramp pesto into mine. It was…perfect.
I’ve been making this for dinner for years and I’ll probably make it for dinner for the rest of my life. Sausage and @unionsqmarket broccoli rabe, pasta, Parmesan, pepper, amen.
It’s been a minute…I tried @pinchofyum nam khao inspired salad with spicy crispy rice and cucumbers. I added some shrimp too, reeeeally really good and the dressing was A++++
Fondue Night !!! I love hosting fondue night. It’s the easiest dinner party in the world, the prep takes 2 seconds and the payoff is so impressive. Everyone loves it. I knew when I found this vintage fondue pot at a flea market in Woodstock 5 years ago we were meant to be together.
Anyway, I also served a very rich chocolate mousse and everyone still liked it even though I realized today that I messed up the recipe. Everything is more forgiving than you think it is!!
Had the idea of tomato anchovy focaccia and it worked. I deepened the flavor of tomato paste by cooking over medium heat and melted in some anchovies and garlic before spreading it on top of the dough. Heavy handed with the Maldon salt as always. Blizzard Sunday treat.
If I invite you over for dinner in the wintertime, you can almost guarantee I’m making a version of a pot pie for you. I made up this Boursin chicken pot pie in my head and it’s stunning. Literally nothingggg wrong with a little Boursin, ever. Simple green salad with French mustard dresssing on the side. And @realduncanhines boxed brownies for dessert bc if they’re good enough for my mom, they’re good enough for me.
Tried a new recipe for cheddar biscotti this Christmas, as I live for a savory baked good. These weren’t bad! Not scrambling to make again but would be yummy with an afternoon tea or as a crunchy side for a soup lunch.
Do you ever get a food memory that becomes a craving you cannot stop thinking about until you make it? This is mine. The Club Royale from Jason’s Deli. I don’t think I’ve had this sandwich since I was in about 7th grade but I absolutely needed it today. Toasted croissant with turkey, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, l + t, and honey mustard.
Most fun and festive project all year!! 🌟🍐 Catering for the @evajoanrepair holiday party at their dream west village shop. Always the best ideas for yummy bites, and true cherry on top getting to also get to partake in the festivities as well. The menu wassss…
Savory blue cheese & raspberry thumbprint cookies
Petite grilled ham & cheese sandwichettes
Mini potatoes + caviar
Orange olive oil cake with glaze & sugared fruits
Classic focaccia and lemony pesto for dipping
Endive with super oniony French onion dip
Sausage biscuit bites
Classic almond sugar cookie stars
And one massive bowl of dark chocolate mousse with whipped cream
I made @pierceabernathy oyster mushroom scallion ginger rice soup and it was perfect. Perfect for the weather in nyc today but also just a perfect combo of flavors for soup. I added some frizzled shallots on top. I used to be such a mushroom hater! What a thought!
If you’re not making chicken bouillon rice yet…what are you doing. The platonically perfect salmon bowl I made the other day with a miso sriracha salmon, lightly pickled carrot ribbons and cucumber coins, and chili crisp ofc.
I’ve been day dreaming about this sandwich for weeks: roasted honeynut squash, garlicky sautéed broccoli rabe, labneh, feta, and lemon on homemade focaccia. Making me miss my fall bake sales !!
