🍫 Always love the subtle beauty of a deep, nutty, chocolatey tenmoku. Difficult to see in this photo, but this glaze has a wonderfully vibrant breaking pattern. Beneath the surface lie golden speckles that breathe life under sunshine. #tenmoku #porcelainpottery #mug

Teapot #4 Rather satisfied with this teapot, as I seldom make them. An inch in a direction I would like to follow. First time crafting a handle from something other than clay. Metal may become a familiar material in my studio. With liver of sulfur or ammonia, among other agents, these handles could be very interesting. There’s a lot of details to pick apart here, but I’ll just keep them in mind as I make the next one. For now, I’ll take the win.

Fixed up this old Shimpo RK-2 Deep clean, remove the spray paint covering the placards, and replace rusty hardware with stainless steel. Replaced the broken power switch with a vintage Klöckner Moeller t20b-1/e cam switch. I really like the aerodynamic dial, bold design, and especially the sound it makes when switching. Made adjustments to the popet, now the wheel runs smooth with a lot of torque. I love the sound of the motor running. The electrical hum breathes and indicates a kind of harmony somewhere within the electrical grid. Next upgrade may be replacing the polarity plug with a dpdt switch, so I can change wheel direction more easily, and find a splash pan or workstation.

Feeling underwhelmed by my mediocre artistic abilities, lack of innovation, and poor attitude. My perception devalues much of what I make. Poisoned by criticism, envy, and cynicism. At times I find it difficult to enjoy the creative process, I ask myself why I refuse to quit. It’s borderline sadism. It wasn’t always like this, as I remember my early days with any craft. Never been to good at pushing my boundaries, as I’m easily distracted. Rather lost, but I am searching for something along a familiar path.

Experimenting with firing upside down on sea shells Was hoping for my drips on the lip and rivulets from the fake ash glaze. Maybe next time. Very happy with the interior blue leopard spotting.
