From our vantage point we saw this tornado develop to our southwest and become intense very quickly before being wrapped up in its mesocyclone surrounded by rain and dust. West of Central City, Nebraska. 17th May 2026. Not for media use.
Tail end of a tornadic supercell near Goodland, KS, then blowing dust in Oakley, then a lightning show in NW KS as we headed north to our hotel. 16th May 2026
Today was an exploring day. All those parts of SE Kansas we’ve stormchased in over the past 17 years but never looked at properly because we were always concentrating on clouds.
Photodump from today’s stormchase in the Watonga area of Oklahoma. 8th May 2026
We headed for Kingfisher and watched a field of congesting cumulus for half an hour then spotted a standalone storm moving towards Watonga. The storm intensified rapidly just east of Watonga just as we arrived. After we backed off from the hail core, we experienced 50mph RFD. Drove SE to Calumet to watch it pass by as it headed to Oklahoma City. Not chasing in cities!!!
