I've heard from so many of you about what you love about our waterfront and what is at risk with the Provincial Government's move to forcibly take City land with no say from you. I'm proud that City Council passed my and @mayoroliviachow 's motion to stand up for the people of Toronto, we stand with Torontonians and firmly demand, and deserve, a seat at the table. As a City, we’ve worked hard to keep making our waterfront a vibrant and sustainable place to live, work, learn, visit, and enjoy. Add your name at: ausmamalik.ca/ourwaterfront

Our incredible Champions for Toronto make our city and Spadina–Fort York a more just, caring and green place to live every day, and was honoured to celebrate so many incredible local leaders. Each of our Champions and nominees has shown what it means to step up for neighbours, protect shared spaces, and build a more connected Toronto. I deeply value their leadership, their contributions continue to inspire me, and I am so proud to work together to make change for the better in our city. Learn more about them at ausmamalik.ca/2026champions And, some big thank yous to all who contributed their talents to make this night so special: local musician Fedor Bondar (@bondar_198.7_fm ) who welcomed us, Toronto's Youth Poet Laureate Shahaddah Jack (@shahaddahjack ) who delivered an incredible spoken word half-time show, the whole team at the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre (@waterfrontncto ) who hosted us including executive director Natasha Francis who welcomed us and Annie B who led us through a half-time stretch, and Laura Proctor (@lauraproctorphoto ) who took these beautiful photos! And of course my team for organizing and bringing us all together!

I'm concerned about the closure of Hanlan's Point Beach, and have requested options to recognize ecological sensitivity and remain accessible. Decisions like this must be made in consultation with community in advance. Find updates on beach access here: bit.ly/beachnotice Find more about our work together on Hanlan's: ausmamalik.ca/hanlans

Reading rocks!! The Forest of Reading Festival at @harbourfrontcentre brings together young book lovers each year in the most energetic way 📚 So wonderful for @mayoroliviachow and I to drop by for this celebration of Canadian books, authors and illustrators, and sharing stories. Big cheers from young readers for our work to make 7-day a week library service a reality! Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, teachers, librarians, youth and parents making this year’s Festival a success and supporting Canada's largest recreational reading program all year long to nurture a lifelong love of reading.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Youth Employment Readiness event this week! I’ve heard from youth and families in our community that they are looking for support and preparation in finding work. With support from the City’s Community Development and Social Services team and @torontohousing , we ran workshops on building resumes, preparing for interviews, and skills building. Thanks to all the staff and participants who made it happen and @thebentway for hosting us!
