Je m’appelle Aurélia Bourhim et je suis peintre, plasticienne et illustratrice. Ma pratique explore la sensorialité comme antidote à l’enfermement émotionnel. Minutieusement et au fil de mes voyages, je collecte des curiosités et fait de mes œuvres le lieu d’expérimentations graphiques. Dans mes gestes précis se déploie un univers fantastique peuplé d’êtres aux formes organiques et lumineuses qui évoluent dans une nature merveilleuse ; les dégradés de couleurs étranges et les bas reliefs brouillent les frontières entre l’imaginaire et le réel et invitent à un voyage intérieur.
Émergent alors des représentations distordues et éthérées des états que je traverse, donnant naissance à des icônes intimes, presque rituelles, auxquelles je me relie comme à des figures de dévotion personnelle.

My name is Aurélia Bourhim and I am a visual artist whose practice explores sensoriality as an antidote to emotional isolation. Meticulously, and through my travels, I collect curiosities and turns my works into spaces of graphic experimentation.
Through my precise gestures unfolds a fantastical universe populated by luminous, organic beings evolving within a wondrous natural world. The strange color gradients and the bas-reliefs blur the boundaries between imagination and reality, inviting the viewer on an inner journey.
Distorted and ethereal representations of the states I experiences then emerge, giving rise to intimate, almost ritualistic icons, to which I connect as one would to figures of personal devotion.

Liam is the first person who told me that my art practice really had value and that I should share it more with the world, that was back in 2018. I trusted him so much that I followed his advice of opening this art account on instagram, and I cannot be more grateful for this. This journey of sharing what I do has taken me further than I could hope for already.
So when his friends asked me to make something special as a gift for him I was already hyped, because Liam was there since the beginning, and that it meant a lot for me to create a piece of art inspired by such a beautiful and powerful soul.

PLINTH was a performance that happened in February 2026, it was last month.
Back in December I was listening to @snookerhooligan music and I just thought .. waw- what a talented composer and musician. And then contacted him, and we came up with this idea : to share a moment of music and painting in Manchester.
From that point on we worked on bringing something that was true to our artistic practice. Thanks to the amazing work that he put to build this event, we could share an hour of what we love the most with the public. It was a truly a deep emotional experience for me, but I will just leave you with some videos and pictures.

𝙴𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗 is an exhibition that took place june last year at @deafshop . This drawing is from a series I made solely during my travels through Asia, crossing Thailand, China and South Korea.
Take me back,
Somewhere in between Chiang Mai and Dali. Right now I want to reach my loved ones from everywhere in the world.
I want to kiss their forehead and wish them good luck on their journey to the future. I want to promise them that we’ll see each other again, even in those most uncertain times.
I just wish you softness, beauty and growth.
In this drawing, the heart in the shape of a seed sprouting is meant to show our impermanent nature, in the Buddhist way.
This depiction of a saint in my own symbolic universe is deeply inspired by Tibetan Buddhist Thangka paintings. Some of those painting techniques I have learned in Nepal in 2024.
I wanted to pay hommage to this spiritual posture, claws are protecting, but the body is fully open to experience life, depicted as the water flowing below.

Wholly capturing the grainy backdrop of the North-West that’s lit by the souls that populate it, Manchester’s experimental musician Snooker Hooligan (Deafhaüs, Leyton Thomas) lines a distorted, foggy foundation with angelic, falsetto vocals to create a haunting and captivating soundtrack.
Debuting an hour of largely unreleased music, Snooker Hooligan will be joined by Aurélia Bourhim, a Bordeaux-based visual artist whose practice explores sensoriality as an antidote to emotional isolation. Meticulously, and through her travels, she collects curiosities and turns her works into spaces of graphic experimentation. Her strange colour gradients, painted with an airbrush, and her bas-reliefs blur the boundaries between imagination and reality.

🔥 Samedi dernier j’ai eu un stand à @la__bledarde__ et ça a été un événement -mémorable-pour moi (et pour certains d’entre vous aussi je pense).
🌟 Mémorable parce que POUR UNE FOIS être d’origine maghrébine était une identité commune à célébrer et à partager, avec joie et fierté. Grâce à cet événement on a eu un réel espace safe de rencontres et d’échanges sur nos diasporas et nos trajectoires familiales, et ça n’as pas de prix.
En vrai j’ai été émue de voir ça et d’y participer activement. Donc vraiment merci @salade__tomate__oignon pour la prog et pour tout.
J’avais aussi pour objectif de rencontrer des gens chouettes, et j’ai pas été déçue parce que vous m’avez fait beaucoup rire (vous êtes trop charismatiques jpp). Merci à toutes les personnes qui sont passées sur le stand 🌸.
En cherchant dans les archives de mes parents j’ai retrouvé des vieilles photos des années 90 (j’étais pas encore née) au Maroc. Et ça m’a inspiré une série de cartes postales qui sont mélangées dans les photos que je vous met là.
« Le thé », « Le garçon et la chèvre » et « le henné ».
Je me suis aussi dis que proposer du henné sur vos jolies mains serait un bon moyen d’honorer la culture de ma famille, parce qu’avoir les mains tatouées au henné c’est toujours un point incontournable d’une de nos visites au Maroc.
Et c’est ce que j’ai fait, j’espère que ça vous a plu.
En vrai toutes ces recherches sur ma propre culture ma donne une nouvelle inspiration,
