2022. A breakthrough year in my 2nd career. Thank you all for your incredible support this year. I am still working my way through all the comments left on my posts from the Atlantic. I often think while reading them, “won’t it be amazing for my kids to read these back someday.” Looking forward, 2023 will look a bit different for me with no major expedition planned. This is far from a negative as the body & mind need time to rest, reenergise & reboot. In the last 4.5 years of my professional career, I’ve rowed the Atlantic Ocean twice, summited 5 of the 7 summits & had an attempt on Mount Everest foiled by Covid. A break from an arduous & time intensive preparation program is most welcome. So for 2023 my significant energies will be focused into the business component of what I do, with the big challenge ahead being to write a book. This has been an meaningful aspiration of mine for many years, however it’s only now I’m in a place where I feel ready to tell my story. Alongside this there’s many exciting projects happening in ‘23. January will see the relaunch of my Patreon platform, where I share everything I have learned on my journey to self realisation. We are also hosting the world premier of the show ‘112 Days’ in Galway on January 19th & 20th, plus speaking @pendulum.summit & corporate events in Canada, England and back in Ireland. March will see the premiere of @wavesofchangefilm on RTE, the documentary of our NYC to Galway row, with the international release of a feature length doc in the summer. In June & July, my adventure bug will get some appeasement as I lead two climbs up the beautiful Kilimanjaro, in partnership with the good folk @earths_edge Last but very dearly, not least, in early autumn, I’m super excited to finally launch @theironmindinstitute This is a project very close to my heart, something I’ve been working on for a number of years & a project that I know will have a paradigm shifting impact on the lives of those who come in contact with it. So here’s to a great year ahead. Wishing you & yours a Happy New Year & a healthy, happy & adventurous 2023. With gratitude, Damian P.S: Hit that link in bio for more on all these.

After 8 months of serious preparation, Team Ironmind has begun the @mdslegendary The peak life experience of - running 270kms across the Sahara Desert awaits. Including, for the first time in the races’ 40 year history, a 100km stage. This will be brutal. That’s the point. This will be extreme. That’s the point. This will be unforgettable. That’s the point. You can follow their journeys over on the @ironmindinstitute page. The very best of luck men. It’s been a pleasure to be part of your journeys until now. Go hard, control what’s within your control and do your best.

We’re beyond excited to share the very first clip from our interview with one of the most daring adventurers in Ireland’s history. Damian Browne set off from New York, rowing solo across the vast and unforgiving Atlantic Ocean all the way to Galway, covering over 3,000 miles at sea. Battling towering waves, brutal storms, exhaustion, and the constant mental challenge of isolation, this was a journey that pushed the limits of human endurance. With only his determination to carry him forward, Damian faced every obstacle head-on, overcoming fear, fatigue, and the unknown to complete this extraordinary crossing. An incredible feat for any human, and yet another powerful example of the courage, resilience, and spirit of the Irish people. We can’t wait for you to see this. Enjoy 💚 #theirishabroad #adventure #rowing #ireland #damianbrowne

Disappointing, but merely a bump in the road.

Most people think training progress comes from pushing harder. In reality, it comes from understanding when to push, and when to recover. For years I trained on instinct alone. Effort. Feel. Experience. But the deeper I’ve gone into endurance and performance, the more I’ve realised that the body leaves clues everywhere. Sleep quality. Heart rate variability. Stress levels. Recovery. When you start paying attention to those signals, training stops being guesswork. That’s where tools like the Samsung Galaxy Watch come in for me. It tracks the things I can’t see - deep sleep, HRV, stress, and turns them into information I can use to be better. Some days the data says push. Other days it says recover. Either way, the decision is informed. Because real progress isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right thing at the right time. #samsung #ad #galaxywatch

Taking on the Marathon des Sables is a peak life experience and I feel this documentary episode, directed by the talented Deividas Morkanus, does that experience justice - expect some tears. And sandstorms. And infections. And emotional tributes. To our 2025 team members @martinshaw880 @coach_jaykane and @crua_conditioning thank you for sharing your journeys with Ironmind so openly and honestly, you made it what it was. MDS 2025 The Final Episode premiers this Sunday (15th) @7pm on YouTube (link in bio)

Pain, doubt & fear VS strength, resilience & tenacity - This is what The Marathon des Sables is really about. Last year I led Team @ironmindinstitute (15 wholehearted individuals) to take on the legendary Marathon des Sables - 250km across the Sahara Desert over six brutal, self-supported days. In the final episode of the documentary, the team and I face the last 175km, including the infamous double marathon of Stage 4 (84.4 kms) where the race stops being about running and becomes a test of character. Premiering this Sunday @7pm on my YouTube Channel. Link in bio

Freezbrury. Year 8. Starts today. Freezbrury is a physical & psychological challenge that takes place throughout the calendar month of February each year in the Northern Hemisphere. From February 1st to February 28th the challenge is to get into the ocean or lake or river, everyday in February, adding a minute for everyday. Therefore, Day 1 = 1 minute, Day 2 = 2 minutes, Day 12 will be 12 minutes etc..all the way to day 28 which will be 28 minutes. The rules are simple: Shorts, speedos, swimsuits and/or bikinis only. No hats, gloves, booties, trainers, etc. You must be submerged to your upper chest for the duration. You must submerge your head fully at least once. This will be hard and will need full commitment. Consistency is key... every single day! The sea temperatures are at there coldest on average in February in the Northern Hemisphere, therefore why I chose this month for the challenge. The cold is merciless on a weak mind and will teach you a lot about how your mind works, if you witness and listen, then put in some honest reflection post dips. Therefore I encourage anyone up for the challenge to get a journal and write about their daily experience. This is extreme. This is not for everyone. This is achievable. With genuine challenge comes deep rewards. If you choose to partake and accomplish this feat you will access; - A broadening of one’s self awareness. - Increase connection with body & mind. - A better ability to be present. - A better understanding of fear and how that presents itself in your mind (avoidance, excuses, justifications, compelling reason) - Better resilience - Greater energy, clarity, perspective - Awareness of the power of your breath - Erasion of some disempowering beliefs - A deep sense of achievement/reward. Here’s what you will need to complete Freezbrury: • Responsibility • Commitment • Purpose • Perseverance • Courage Freezbrury has been used by many to raise hundreds of thousands of euros, alongside fantastic awareness, for charities & causes close to their hearts. Why don’t you? Find out more about it, it’s origin and history here - /freezbrury/
