And for those of you who asked: yes, we’ve also tested wheelchair control outside the lab, on busy floors. MouthPad^Drive is an early prototype that translates tongue input into fluid wheelchair control. Early work in the lab has involved mapping directional commands, tuning the sensitivity, and understanding what safe, intuitive navigation will require. The MouthPad^ began as a way to control phones and computers. Extending the interface into physical movement opens an entirely different new set of possibilities. And this is just the beginning. #mouthpad #assistivetech #accessibility #wheelchairtech #handsfree #disabilitytech #spinalcordinjury #quadlife #wheelchairlife #adaptivetech #mobilitytech

A tongue-controlled wheelchair. This is real. If you caught our Mario Kart clip, you've seen what the MouthPad^ can do on a screen. Now, we're taking it into the physical world. Mario Kart on Nintendo Switch. No hands, just the MouthPad^. 🏎️👻 Play along: Corbin is using tongue movements to steer, presses to drift, and sips to clock Metal Mario (with the green shell!). We’re testing different games on the MouthPad^ because each genre peels back another layer of input design. Racing games demand something different from fighters or RPGs: continuous directional control — you can't pause steering. @NintendoAmerica #mouthpad #mariokart #nintendoswitch #accessibletech #adaptivegaming #accessiblegaming #disabilitytech

8.51 bits per second — no implant. 🧠 Our user Tomás Baptista completed a 60-second run of the MouthPad^ Benchmark module, reaching 8.51 bits per second (BPS) using head-tracking and tongue clicks. His personal best: 9.98 BPS. That's comparable to top-performing brain-computer interfaces — without requiring surgery. From Tomás: "The mouthpad's a game-changer; it totally revolutionized how I use my computer. I tried a lot of other computer interaction devices before, but most of them were physically straining and awkward. The mouthpad was intuitive from the start." Watch the full run on our YouTube channel. #mouthpad #assistivetech #accessibletech #handsfree #BCI #spinalcordinjury #quadlife #adaptivetech #disabilityinnovation #ATtech

From the lab: Lord of the Rings, hands-free. 🎮😝 Watch our very own Aragorn play LOTR with the MouthPad^ — moving around with licks and attacking with tongue presses and sips. Gaming is one of hardest tests for an input device: fast feedback, high stakes, spatial memory. If you can move confidently through a dark cavern surrounded by enemies, you can rule all your devices, hands-free. Every game we test teaches our team something new about input design. #assistivetech #gaming #handsfree #accessibletech #adaptivegaming #accessibility #accessiblegaming #tonguecontrol

“Controlling my mouse with my mouth!” Couldn’t explain the MouthPad^ better (or with more style) than @lookmomnohands 🧢 We sent Ryan, a designer and accessibility advocate, a MouthPad^ to get his feedback on the device. Check it out! “Big thanks to @augmentaltech for sending me the MouthPad^ to try out! Here’s my honest take on this game-changing device. I’ve been testing the MouthPad, a hands-free device that lets me control my digital world using just my head and mouth. It fits comfortably in my mouth and responds to simple gestures like head movements and tongue taps to move the cursor, click, and scroll. It’s been amazing to see how seamlessly it works across devices like iPhones and tablets. Plus, the app makes it super easy to customize the controls to fit my needs. MouthPad is truly a game changer—not just for me but for anyone with mobility challenges.” #lookmomnohands #mouthpad #accessibletech #innovation #techforgood #inclusivedesign #equalaccessibility

I’m excited to share that I’ll be speaking at @figma ’s CONFIG in San Francisco this May at the Moscone Center! I’ll be sharing the stage with Corten Singer, co-founder of @augmentaltech , to demo the MouthPad. I’ll also be talking about my design journey, my work at @rocketofficial , and my advocacy for inclusive design. Can’t wait to share how technology and design can break barriers and create more opportunities for everyone. Who’s coming to CONFIG? Let’s connect! #CONFIG2025 #InclusiveDesign #AccessibilityInnovation #MouthPad #RocketDesign #DesignForEveryone @rocketcareers

Hands-free, non-invasive control is here. 🪐 Watch Joseph hit 4.25 bits per second — the speed of standard office tasks — in his very first hour with the MouthPad^, acing head-tracking + tongue clicks in seconds. With practice, MouthPad^ users are reaching 7.85 BPS, closing in on cutting-edge brain-computer interfaces — no implant required. What would you do with your newfound tongue abilities? “Humans are remarkably adaptable,” says Mike Hastings. It takes one to know one. A consultant for people with spinal cord injuries, Mike switched to the MouthPad^ this summer after 25 years with the trusty mouth stick. He’s mastered his device, using it every day — up to 16 hours in a day — and even inspiring new features on the way. Check out Mike’s remarkable story and read his full review of the MouthPad^ on our new “Our Users” page: https://www.augmental.tech/our-users #WearableTechnology #TechInnovation #InclusiveTech #UniversalDesign #HandsFree #Accessibility #AssistiveTechnology #DisabilityAwareness #SpinalCordInjury #OccupationalTherapy #Rehabilitation #PhysicalTherapy #AccessibleDesign #TechForGood #EmpowerWithTech #Augmental #MouthPad #Mouthware

“It’s given me a spark.” The MouthPad^ is out in the world, transforming users’ lives at work, in play, and everything in between. For Keely Horch, a sophomore at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the MouthPad^ is an essential tool in the classroom — and a “layer of freedom” wherever she goes. “I’m excited about the future because of the independence I have now from the MouthPad,” said Keely. “Being able to stay up late to do homework or play games, it gives me a sense of normalcy. It's given me the motivation to want to take control of my life.” Keely is studying math and computer engineering. She uses her MouthPad^ to code, draw equations, and take notes during lecture, where voice control is not an option. (And, most recently, to conquer the whole Augmental team at Catan.) The MouthPad^ Early Access program is quickly expanding to everyone in the US. Head-tracking is here! All the magic of our tongue trackpad, now integrated with the power of head-based cursor control. Watch Oscar nod his head to play a game of pong, and press his tongue against the roof of the mouth for keyboard l̶i̶c̶k̶s̶ clicks. :p This is a fully functional feature, not just a demo. In head-tracking mode, the MouthPad^ uses embedded motion sensors to instantly translate tilts of the head into glides across the screen — just as fast as a conventional hand mouse, and even more intuitive. Meanwhile, the tongue trackpad enables gestures such as left and right click, click-and-drag, swipe, and scroll. With multiple control interfaces, the MouthPad^ is more customizable to you: Switch between tracking modes and tailor each to your abilities in our companion app. We’re closing our Early Access program soon — sign up to the waitlist on our website to get your MouthPad^! https://augmental.tech/waitlist
