Yesterday marked the second anniversary of Russia’s brutal and illegal invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. 🇺🇦 Two years of destruction of Ukrainian communities. 🇺🇦 Two years of lost Ukrainian lives on the frontline. 🇺🇦 Two years of lost childhoods of Children impacted by war. 🇺🇦 Two years of displacement by Ukrainians seeking safety. 🕯️NATIONAL COMMEMORATION🕯️ Thank you to the Scottish National War Memorial for hosting yesterdays commemoration event in partnership with AUGB Edinburgh, Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh Консульство України в Единбурзі and Ukrainian Catholic Church in Scotland with the support of Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council, Legion Scotland and British Army in delivering the event. We were privileged to be joined by City of Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, Humza Yousaf, UK Government Scotland, Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone MSP and representatives from across 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦 political, diplomatic, military and civic society communities in paying respects to those fallen in the defence of Ukraine. 🇺🇦DEMONSTRATION OF SOLIDARITY🇺🇦 Thank you to Ukrainian Victory Campaign for organising the demonstration outside the russian consulate. It continues to be important to ensure Ukrainian voices are heard across Edinburgh, highlighting the ongoing brutal attacks by russia on Ukraine’s communities.

Here's what's coming up: 🌟 Paper Art Garden Workshop | 11am, 12.45pm & 2.30pm 🌟 Join the brilliant artists from @beetroots_art in one of their FREE family friendly creative art workshops. You'll make your own spring flower ornament, or if you feel confident have a go at more complex paper cutting traditional patterns. 🌟 Motanka Doll Workshop | 11am 🌟 Guided by the artist @mariiammiskova you will create your own Motanka doll to take home. This FREE workshop is suitable for ages 10+. Each doll is unique, shaped by the imagination of its maker. 🌟 Petrykivka Painting Workshop | 12.45pm (Sold Out) 🌟 Artist led, you will be guided step-by-step through this this traditional decorative painting process to create your own colourful work of art to take home. 🌟 CeilidhKids Workshop | 2pm and 3.05pm 🌟 FREE family-friendly Scottish Ceilidh workshop. New Scots and Old Scots can discover and enjoy for the first or 100th time the dances and tap along to the music. As it is a shoes off dance floor there is a chance for everyone to show off their favourite socks! 🌟 Make your own Straw Spider Mobile Workshop | 2.30pm 🌟 At this Ukrainian ‘Pavuk’ - Straw Spider - workshop you will get to make your own traditional, geometric hanging straw ornament. Artist led by @augbedinburgh , you will be guided through this process to create your own ‘Pavuk’ to take away at the end of the workshop and hang up in your home!
