Let’s meet one last time in the underground vaults of @meduza.fyi for the closing reception of "Seasons" by Donatas Jankauskas-Duonis. We’ll begin with a conversation between the author of the exhibition @duonisj , curator and writer @raimundas_malasauskas as well as art critic Skaidra Trilupaitytė. We will then then stay together a little longer—for shared reflections, informal conversations, and a sonic drift guided by Matas Aerobica.
For me, “Seasons” by Donatas Jankauskas – Duonis has been an adventure unlike anything else. Inhabiting Medūza’s labyrinthine 16th-century vaults, the exhibition opened a space for collective imagining—one that gently unsettled our sense of origin and memory.
The figure of the ape, so central to Duonis’s practice, appeared here as a contradictory image: reflecting how ideas of human nature began to shift in the 1990s. In the exhibition, this figure entered an uneasy dialogue with the ape from A Report to an Academy and with Georges Bataille’s reflections on Lascaux as an imaginal point of origin for humanity.
By inviting visitors to wander through the underground space without a fixed route, Duonis did not illustrate these references but held them open—provocatively asking about what our origins might still become.

Moving Image is an exhibition that opens twice.
The first opening on November 7th presented works from the ING Polish Art Foundation’s collection in a space set up as an educational experiment. The second opening, on January 15th, aims to show what happens when schoolchildren enter that space through performative “institutional hijacks” – not as visitors, but as co-authors who rethink who has the right to inherit and shape our cultural images.
Curated by Audrius Pocius, the show revolves around a single question: how do we inherit heritage? We usually think of inheritance like a private family legacy – something you receive and then decide what to do with. Heritage is different: it is public property, protected and mediated by institutions so that it remains accessible to everyone. To inherit heritage is to inherit a social contract – responsibilities toward artists, toward the public, and toward the future.
Inspired by Janusz Korczak’s ideas of careful observation and democratic self-determination, education here is not a lesson about the collection, but a space where authority, responsibility, and imagination constantly change hands – a rehearsal for living with a shared cultural legacy. Building on our previous academic collaboration with Audrius and Kristupas in the collective monograph Terpių teorija: filosofija, aplikodaira, ugdymas, we were invited to develop a methodology that allows schoolchildren, even if only for a brief moment, to become equal partners in a cultural dialogue.
With exhibition architecture by Laura Kaminskaitė, the show was conceived from the outset so that the educational program for three specially selected groups of schoolchildren is part of the exhibition itself, not a parallel activity. The architecture was developed to hold this idea, so that learning and looking unfold in the same space. The educational methodology was created by The School of Creativity (Kristupas Sabolius and me) together with Anna Owsiany and Zachęta’s education department. The program would have been impossible without the support of ING for Children Foundation.

Šiandien @galeria_zacheta atsidaro Audriaus Pociaus (@audrius.docx ) kuruota paroda „Moving Image“, kurioje „Kūrybingumo mokyklos“ komanda kartu su lenkų kolegomis – Zachęta edukacijos departamentu ir edukatore Anna Owsiany sukūrė specialią edukacijos programą, kviečiančią vaikus tapti kūrybinio proceso bendraautoriais.
Kelių mėnesių eigoje 12 iki 16 m. amžiaus moksleiviai įsitrauks į vienos svarbiausių Lenkijos meno institucijų procesus kaip aktyvūs sprendėjai ir vizionieriai. Jų mokymasis ir darbas tiesiogiai paveiks parodą, meno kūrinių išdėstymą, aprašymus ir pristatymą.
Paroda „Moving Image“, surengta minint 25-ąsias @ingpolishartfoundation metines, tyrinėja meno kolekciją kaip kultūrinio paveldėjimo ir kūrybinės kaitos vietą. Ji siūlo pažvelgti į paveldą ne kaip į saugojimo ir konservavimo objektą, bet kaip į nuolatinį naujų kultūrinių reikšmių bendrakūrybos procesą.
