A piece from the latest firing — iron oxide markings layered with surface carving, etching, and slicing.

Mixed up a new batch of transparent glaze. Glazing new cat pins in fresh colours that I got from @kiwi.underglaze . Glaze firing should start on Tuesday! Just a couple more things to glaze and I should be good to go.

🌸😵‍💫🔪 Super pleased with this new variation of slicing the background to add more texture to the pot. It might be covered by the glaze slightly but hopeful it will create a subtle texture and shadow.

(Coming to ig stories soon) Pinned feelings: wearable moods All the moods I’ve been through this past year, captured on cats. Hand-pinched and carved ceramic brooches with faces, feelings, and a little attitude. If you see the spotted one, that was me when we all got hit with gastro 3 days before flying to Singapore.

Life this week 🐈‍⬛🧢🛝 <ig sale soon?> Featuring cat pin that will be part of an ig sale I intend to do. Just need to photograph those for sale and post it. Easy enough right? I’m figuring the postage and I will make up the rest as I go. 🎉

Cat pins!! Yes!! A little bit of silliness to balance the pressures of being back to normal life after birthing and now raising a little human. I’ve been thinking of putting a bunch of them for sale as a market or something but life has a way of not letting me plan these things just yet. If you know of any place I could put some work on consignment, please let me know. Putting this into the universe. 🪐

Unintentional glaze and surface test. Shards from my broken cup accident — after all that carving and glazing, I couldn’t not fire them. Turns out they held some good data. Oxide washes + carved surfaces = worth exploring further. Sometimes the failures are just research in disguise.

Stepping back into the studio for the first time since having M 🤍 It took more courage than I expected. I walked in unsure how the session would unfold, but with so little time, I knew I had to be decisive and trust my hands again. M was in daycare, teething, and after a rough week I half-expected that call to come through. It didn’t. Instead, there was clay, quiet focus, and a small window for making.

What a week it’s been seeing Ken’s workshop come to life at Terrapotters! ✨ Even though I was only watching the students throw, I felt as though I was right back on the wheel — and right back in Jingdezhen (thanks to Ken’s voice carrying through the studio). Thank you Ken for trusting me to organise your Melbourne workshops. I’ve learnt so much along the way about another business aspect of ceramics and it’s been such a joy to see you share your skills here. 🙏 well done to the students and Cassie, now it’s time to figure out how to big ass pots. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
