Make it back to your feet! That’s our focus for the month of May in self-defense classes. We’re working on defending ourselves from the less-than-ideal position of being on our backs, with the intention of standing back up. Sometimes that means strikes, sometimes it means connections and sweeps. 🧹 Come rep these valuable skills for the next month!
Sensei combo from this past Saturdays’s Striking class. Lots of focus on combo work this past month, sharpening tools and hitting with some more intention. 🥊
Heads up! Next month we have a special Saturday on June 13 with two separate seminars focused on Emergency Preparedness. At, 3pm, we’re holding a basic firearm safety course — this is specifically designed for people who are uneasy and want to build confidence in a safe, supportive environment. You’ll get a hands-on introduction to safety and mechanics, lead by co-owner Vanessa Swesnik. Cost is $30 for members, $50 for non-members — members please message us for a discount code!
At 430pm, the following seminar is FREE - we’ll be hosting another Stop the Bleed, taught by ATC EMS, about how to handle bleeding emergencies. We’ve held one of these before at the gym, and it’s absolutely essential information to have in the event of emergencies, we can’t recommend it enough.
We hope to see you all on June 13!
Putting the fun in fundamental — sometimes the temptation as coaches is to try to give a lot of variety so that things feel more new and exciting, but in reality one of the best ways to learn is consistency, and finding ways to make repeating the basics over and over again a good time, even months later. Always remember that progress in these kinds of skills is measured over time. Each class and each rep is putting coins in the bank. Everyone’s work has really been showing lately!

April is for the ABCs of self defense. This month, we’re focusing on what we consider our core sequence: protect your head, make an attachment, improve your position, get to safety. We’ll be working lots of helmets, in close grappling and striking, and navigating exits. Understanding these puzzle pieces and building skills around them can help you solve a surprising amount of problems and variables. We’ll see you in class!
It’s a holiday weekend, so we’ve got a modified schedule. Strength & Conditioning is still on tonight, plus we have a regular schedule on Saturday. The gym will be closed this Sunday, 4/5! 🐰
It’s springtime 🪴— the perfect season for planting the seeds for new skills. Come grow with us! Martial arts and fitness classes geared for self-defense, seven days a week.
