How incredibly moving to hear from his former students how they have gone on in their lives to achieve things they could barely have imagined when they were younger. You deserve all the flowers BD. You are A genuinely extraordinary man whom I’m beyond lucky to call friend and family. Love u.
Final show today with the Canadian opera company. This was my ninth show with this incredible company and it was the most terrifying, physically challenging, creatively thrilling and rewarding experience. I have been able to work alongside the most staggeringly talented performers and crew members, whose impressive abilities are matched by their kindness. This has been a genuine thrill.
Navigating a male-male system means understanding and embracing that there is going to be an inevitable overlap of friends and lovers. This does not need to be awkward, or even a source of drama, if there is a solid foundation of trust, communication and respect among friends. Discussing sexual histories with friends is not necessarily gossip, it can be about protection. Warning people about unsafe partners. Or, in the best sense, sharing the great ones! But there’s also the respect of boundaries. Prioritizing friendship & respecting boundaries is a sign of emotional maturity, and self-control. If you have friends that prioritize your bond over their in-the-moment desires, you are in good company.
