👋Hi, we’re Ru & Shay ;-)
💭Together we run Afterdark Kitchen Supper Club: a space built around good food, good energy, and long, relaxed dinners that feel a little bit special.
🍋Ru is a structural engineer by day. All precision, logic, and problem-solving. At the table, that translates into a love for detail: thoughtful plating, balanced compositions, and creating a setting that feels just right. It’s where the creative side comes out.
🍊Shay comes from a design background, where ideas are shaped through process, instinct, and attention to detail. A love for baking and cooking, mixing flavours, and often bringing in Asian influences in a way that feels natural. Outside of that, she’s usually out exploring coffee, film, and anything a bit more hands-on.
🪽We’re not chefs, just two people who care about food, atmosphere, and the small details that make a table feel complete. It’s not about formality or perfection, but about creating a space that feels warm, a little considered, and worth slowing down for.

Take a closer look at our last pastry club, where we leaned into a mix of delicate flavours and easy, shareable plates 🍽️
From the longan hojicha cake to the jasmine roll with white wine poached pear, also the black sesame mochi roll, the sweet side felt layered, fragrant, and just indulgent enough 😌
On the savoury side, we had anchovy puff pastry twists, vegetables with hummus, and crisps with ham, simple things that kept everyone reaching back for more 🤤
It was one of those afternoons where everything came together naturally, with good food, in a relaxed pace, and even better company 🤍

🍋🟩🍡We brought the pastry club outside this time, with a mix of sweet bakes and a few savoury things that were easy to share and keep going back to. We let the afternoon stretch out, simple, slow but really nice.
🧀🥯Sweet and savoury both worked really well together, but it was more about the atmosphere than anything else.
