Touched down at my 4th @myprishow and was stoked to catch the debut of @shawnb26 ’s 350Z at the @teamtoyousa booth — originally a factory-effort, tube-chassis GT-3 race car! Been awhile since I’ve been wow’d by a Z33, but then again, this really isn’t one… 🤭
🎌 Silhouette-style carbon body with a shortened roofline that shares virtually nothing with a production Z (and was likely built in Japan)
🔓 All the panels and doors are quick-release and can be taken apart in minutes (so cool!)
👊 Competitive in SCCA against the likes of Corvettes and Camaros throughout the 2000s
For 2026, Shawn has resurrected this forgotten motorsport gem to race wheel-to-wheel in the next GLGT season of @gridlifeofficial .
🦾 With 9:1 power-to-weight rules, he’ll be dropping in a 5.6L V8 VK56 engine
🏎️ New aero includes front splitter, flat bottom, rear diffuser, wing and chopped rear bumper
👨🔧 Body needed a lot of repair so Shawn updated the original carbon while adding vents to the fenders and hood
At a quick glance, Shawn’s car seems unassuming — easy to mistake for another “time attack build.” But once you really look at it, it’s wild seeing how the dimensions and lines are unlike any other 350Z. Well done, Shawn, and lookin’ forward to seeing it on the road next year! 🤗👏

What started as a simple 240Z project turned into something far more serious. Rust led to a rebuild. A rebuild led to reinvention. Now powered by a turbocharged LS, this Datsun has evolved into a full time attack weapon with Pikes Peak in its sights.
